Anyone know the history of DIS Con planning?

I was thinking about this and does anyone know about how long ago Ms. Mac-key and Linda approached Pete about DIS Con? When and who thought of the idea? What time did the lightning bolt strike?

I remember Pete saying something about it at the conventon, but I don't think he mentioned a time frame.

I fI recall it wasn't to long after Marsha returned from her cruise last year which was on December 2nd. And I think it was within a month of that.


I may be wrong..


I like to think it was because she met me on the cruise and just thought next time she would need a buffer of about 200 people to keep me at bay

Marla, I think that's right. I think it started in chat as a suggestion to all meet in WDW, then went to the "convention" idea and then spilled over into the boards. I don't think it was too long from the suggestion to actually giving us an "official" date. And, the rest is history!

By this time last year, Marsha was already working on the 2002 convention. Then last January it was announced that there would be a convention in 2001, which made ME very happy!

Let me set the record straight..Way back when.. I contacted Pete with an idea that I had.. I think it was before I was a mod.. I might have been a chat host.. I cannot remember.. I emailed him with this idea about our own convention.. He answered me and put me in contact with Linda.. originally we were going to do it next year December 2002.. but there was such an outcry, maybe at a chat, I cannot remember, to do it earlier... that we pulled it together for this year.. and I for one am glad we did.. I hope that gave you a little history on DisCon..

I, too, would like to thank you Marsha. It's so nice to finally feel like you belong. This is a great place to escape to. DIS CON was a great opportunity to meet others like myself and I am looking forward to meeting many more of you at the next one.

I just happened to come across this post and actually I believe it all started with a talk of a Ladies meet this past February....a ladies weekend. We started talking about it in chat and then it just blossomed into a convention idea of sorts...wondering if Pete would do a DIS convention...thus the CCSS Ladies meet happened in February and then the convention happened this past December...and yes, the original idea was to have it this year (2002) but like Marsha said, there was such an outcry that they did it last month. I think it all also started with jealousy from some of the guys wanted to "crash" a ladies meet!!! ROFL

Along with this also was talk of doing a cookbook which never got off the ground. I don't know if that would be an idea for this next convention...but the idea came from so many off of the recipes board.

And this my friends...all started with a mouse also...a Mac-Key Mouse!!! And a bunch of us that use to go to chat nightly last September/October 1999.
