Anyone know of a nice, clean, romantic hotel near Universal?

Any and all suggestions would be appreciated! :D

Thanks in advance. :)

Yes, the Portofino Bay Hotel. Right next to Universal and oh so romantic. If you have an entertainment card you can get a room for around $150. You won't regret staying here.

The Hard Rock is awesome. My DD swears she's going to the Hard Rock for her honeymoon - because the beds are so comfortable!

sharbear and Disney Debbie -

Hi! :D We went on the website last night and fell in love with both hotels! We immediately ordered the Orlando discount book for 2003. What a savings. Thank you very much for the suggestions! :)

Sharbear -- can you tell me which type of room you stayed in? We really like the king bay view, but we were wondering about the king deluxe rooms.

Disney Debbie -- can you tell me which type of room you stayed in? Was the hotel really romantic? The name Hard Rock makes me think of loud, hard rock music all the time. :p It looks beautiful!

Thank you for all your help! :) We really appreciate it. :)

I have to admit that I stayed at the HRH. We had the kids with us (not a romantic trip!). We loved it but I think that the PBH is much more romantic.

Go to the Universal board and you will find a lot of info and people who can answer all of your questions.

All 3 Universal hotels are a bit special (and the new Royal Pacific also has strong romantic possibilities - and some good rates just now), but they are also some of the most expensive in the area. The Renaissance Orlando and Peabody hotels are both very good alternatives, and should work out a bit cheaper.

Thank you sharbear! I went over to the UB and found tons of information on the Universal Hotels. :)

Thank you Simon! I'm going to check out the two hotels you suggested. :)

It looks like we may be leaning towards the Portofino and the Royal Pacific, not only because of the ambiance, but because of the front of the line perks too. :)

Thank you again! :)

Maggie

The front of the line perks are very nice and very much worth staying "on site". We stayed at HRH last April and I was pleased with the room and ammenities.

Thanks nwdisgal. :D The HRH seems very nice. The pictures I've seen are just gorgeous. :)

Simon V -- I checked out the other hotels you listed. They're beautiful! The Renaissance seems so elegent and the price is right! The Peabody looks very nice too, but the website was having problems, so I didn't get to learn much about that hotel.

Thank you again everyone. :)

We stayed in a regular room at the HRH but were upgraded to a pool view. We went over to the Portofino - and it is beautiful - but it just seemed kind of dead over there to me! I always thought I'd prefer it over HRH - but after seeing them both we just decided next time we'd stay at HRH and go eat one evening at Portofino. Our room at the HRH was just beautiful - very elegant and comfortable. The pool at the HRH is a zero entry and stayed open later then the zero entry pool at Portofino. We liked to go get in the hot tub at night. It's also the closest to the parks - you can walk easily to both of them without taking the boat. They are playing music all the time - but it's not like the restaurant (which I hate because it's too loud!) - it's background music - but good background music! You can hear the music under water in the pool.

I haven't seen the Royal Pacific yet - we had plans to go there on our anniversary but went to Vegas instead!

With the Entertainment book the rooms are very reasonable and the FOTL access is worth any extra! I felt like royalty when I'd walk up to the line, flash my card and be waved on up with a smile!

Hi guys!! :)

Just want to add my thanks for the great tips and info! :)

I'm just getting over a nasty ordeal with some Poison Oak. . . . . but Maggie and I have been planning an Orlando trip for this coming June for a while now, and after a lot of thinking we decided we wanted to definitely try a place neither of us had stayed before, which left out most of the Disney properties. . LOL!! ;)

It was Maggie's idea to check out the Universal hotels, and thanks to your tips, we found a lot of info and have decided to try the Royal Pacific and we booked it today at a great rate for early June of $110 a night !!! :) :) :)

Thanks again everyone!! :)
