We're going to Disney World next week. Just checked the weather- 78 degrees and sunny all but one day we will be there! Yippee. I'll be the one with the very white legs. Anyone know of a good self tanning product? :yay::yay::yay::yay:

I am moving this to the Disney Tips Board. If you don't get much response there, you might try asking on the Community Board. :)

I have used on previous trips and am currently using the Jergens Natural Glow lotion (since I am not pasty white but CLEAR and will be there in 2 weeks). I use the medium to tan skin tone because I like more of a tan look than the light skin tone lotion gives you. It doesn't turn you orange either :cool1: Hope this helps!!!!

the only one I use and love is Avon natural glow I tan easily though so I only use it in the spring before Im able to be in the sun. It also has a very subtle shimmer effect, but if you are leaving in only a few days it will not work for you as it takes 4-5 days for it to come in the mail. I would say maybe got to a tanning bed a couple times or professional spray on tan

Salon spray tan is best, but if you don't have time to book, I've used the coppertone one in the past (I'm extremely fair skinned) and it looked fine, True Blue Spa makes a great one that you can adjust how much tanner is used, its called Shade to Order, but I don't know that Bath & Body Works has it before the summer.

i would def. recommend doing a spray tan twice in advance. if you are REALLY white, i would do the lightest spray they have and then go back 3-4 days later and do their medium spray. that will give you a good boost for however many days you have to follow being in the beautiful disney sun! i work at a tanning salon when im home from college, so you better believe that i try to have a dark tan for my trips to disney!! :)

I did a spray tan a few years ago and hated it. I thought I looked ridiculous, plus the salon I went to didn't do a very good job of explaining the process and I ended up with weird looking feet and hands, even though I kind of knew what to do. Just be careful ifyou go that route so you don't end up having to wear socks on your vacation!

If you just want to take the glare off, I like the Jergens Body GLow lotions. It'll be a gradual thing and give you just enough not to be embarrassed in shorts. As for actual self-tanners, I swear by Estee Lauder. Theirs is really good and doesn't smell terrible.

How long does it take to get a spray tan? I live in a beach town so I am sure there are places around here that do this, I just have never checked. Do you wear anything while getting sprayed? Does it smell? Does it just wear off. I have kids, a pool, and I work in a dentist office so I shower 3 times a day on the days we get in the pool. Will that make it fade quickly? I love a quick fix if it works! Thanks for the info everybody. :flower3:

okay i don't know about other salons, but where i work you get into a booth.

what happens is you fully undress..

put a hairnet type thing on your head (i usually double up because i'm anal), goggles for your eyes if you want, and booties on your feet if you want (all should be provided for you at the salon already).

you also have to put a barrier cream on your hands, elbows, knees and feet (if booties aren't worn).

once that is all finished... you step in the booth facing forward and it will spray you up and down 12 times (i've counted haha). it should then stop and then you turn around so it can spray your backside up and down 12 times as well.

after you're all finished, you step out and dry off like you've just gotten out of the shower. just blot your face and neck though.

you MUST wait 4-6 hours before doing ANYTHING involving water. (that means showering, swimming, washing dishes, sweating, etc.)

once 4 hours at the minimum is up, you can do your everyday activities.

the tan should last from 4-7 days.

SOME blotchiness may occur, but you'll be in disney getting even more of a tan! it will even out anyway!

hope this helps some! :)

Wow, that sounds great! I always wanted to do this but I was too afraid to ask dumb questions like who was going to be spraying me! Thanks for the great info- I'm going to do this ASAP! :flower3:

I agree with the Jergans Natural Glow. It is gradual and does not look like you painted yourself.

Another vote for the Jergens Natural Glow Daily - I used this in January before a cruise, and was confident with the results.

My sisters and I have tried many self-tanning products and have found that for us, the best gradual self-tanning product is Jergen's Natural Glow in the medium shade and the best instant self-tanning product is Tanwise Self Tanning Lotion. The Tanwise goes on smoothly just like lotion, allows you to see where you are blending it into your skin, isn't sticky, and smells good. I apply the instant self-tanner according to the directions on the package and the next day (and each day after) I begin using the gradual self-tanner after showering to ensure an even tan that I can gradually make darker if I want to. I have gone to the tanning salon to have a spray tan, yet was not as happy with the results because it is nearly impossible to avoid some streaks and uneven shading because you have to wear clothing and drive home from the salon immediately after receiving the spray tan. Good luck and remember un-tanned legs are beautiful too :)

I'm not a real big fan of self tanners, but when need be - the best I have found is Faux Tan from Bare Escentuals! We leave in a month and I am debating all of this "be nice and tan or go as a ghost" stuff right now as well. Have a great trip!!

I concur: Jergans Natural Glow is a pale girls best friend.

I like the Loreal tanning foam. I put it on my legs and arms/chest. It doesn't have such an off putting smell to me as the lotions, and seems to me to go on more evenly and dries very quickly. I would use it 2 weeks beforehand for best results. Oh and it has never come off on my clothing, as the lotions seem to do.

I did the self tanning one year and I ended up in the water alot and had lovely streks. The product looked great before that. So that would be something to consider in your decision. I give up on the tan.

Anyone else have trouble with water and the tanners? I wonder if chlorine reacts with it?

Does the Jergens hace a smell? I am not pale ,but after all this snow we have had I could use a "Glow" . I have used self tanners before and they smell fine when putting them on after the first day they seem to have a strange oder to them.
