I recall that last year in August there was a tax free weekend. Does anyone know if they will do this again this year? TIA.

The State Senate hasn't passed it yet.

It is suppose to be August 13th and 14th if it is passed though.

Those aren't good dates for me. Who do I need to speak to in order to get them to change the dates to work around my schedule? (laugh - it's a joke)

Actually, we're on vacation in NJ that week and will just be getting back on the 14th.

Mass has a tax free weekend every weekend it is called Salem NH.

Except that I live on the RI border, so what I'd pay in gas to get to NH would be so much more than I'd save in taxes.

Just to let everyone know, I received confirmation from work today that there is NOT a tax free weekend this year. The big dig problems are probably the reason why.

If this is the case, then that just plain stinks. If I really could have used it it would have been this year. :furious:

RI is offering a tax free weekend instead that weekend. Also they are offering a tax free week in March. I think that's for energy efficient items though

that figures! I was watching Fox25 this morning and VB was doing his Let It Rip, the Mass Pike lost $108k per day in revenue for the first three days after the accident & $77K both weekend days. BUT since 8 days have gone by, no one has figured out who is responsible for the collapse. Those people are long gone, I doubt they will ever find out!!

The tolls will probably be doubled to make up for the lost revenue! I feel bad for that poor lady's family. Everyone has been saying they'll fix it when someone gets killed!! Well, it finally happened. They'll fix it, but will it work?

See, now I'm attending a planning meeting at work next week, because we're still under the impression that although the House has not signed the bill yet, it's going to happen.

And, if it does happen the days are going to be Saturday the 12th, and Sunday the 13th.

I work in IT Support for a retailer based in MA, and we have programming changes to make if this happens, so I'll keep everyone posted with what I know.

None of us Massachusetts residents EVER shop in NH without filing the paperwork to pay the 5% Mass state tax though, RIGHT? :)

Of course not!! JEESH do you think I want to stiff my state out of any extra money. Fat Matt looks like he needs to go to dinner with Fat Teddy and the rest of the crew. I belive in feeding the needy and with all the stress of the tunnel collapse I bet they have not had a good 3 lb lobster and bottle of Dom Perigone in a long time. With all the benefits of the Big Pig ....sorry I mean Dig I feel every little bit will help.
I am sure there are people who do not pay their 5% and I bet those scaliwags would like to be able to buy cars and large appliances in NH too!! How unpatriotic are they? Well at least MITT and KERRY Healy did not take a salary that should go a long way to feed MATT and his jeans wearing to a memorial service wife.

AHH the great state of TAXACHUSETTS!!

what? really?
so if I shop in Rhode Island and have to pay 6% tax... shouldn't I get 1% back?

Actually, isn't RI sales tax now at 7%? So they owe us 2% each. I'm all for that.

By the way...you live in my hometown, although it's not quite the same as it was when I lived there.

Come to Florida...we have a tax free week starting Saturday.

Honestly, only having one child, I stay away from stores during tax free. They are mobbed, you'd think they were giving the clothes away.
