I am posing this question for a friend of mine.....

Does anyone have one of those Bike Trailers for holding 2 kids in it to pull them when you go bike riding?

What brand do you recommend?
are you familiar with Chariot or Burley?

any info. you have on these would be great.

thanks :)

We have a Burley and have been very happy with it. It's the only brand we've used though, so I can't compare/contrast them.

I'd recommend getting as light a trailer as possible. Those kids can get pretty heavy, especially pulling them uphill, so you don't want the trailer to add too much more weight. Make sure it's easy to fold up and unfold again, if you need to do that for storage, and let the kids sit in it (with their helmets on) before you buy to make sure they are comfortable in it.

Good luck. :moped: (no bike smilie, so using the scooter)

We had a Burley when the kids were little. At the time there weren't many brands on the market. Burley was the only one that folded up completly, the rest had a hard plastic bottom. We used the Burley a lot, our town had extensive bike trails so that helped.

We have a Burley too. It is great. I have no complaints at all, and DD (22 months) really enjoys riding in it.

I have heard that the Chariots are even better - I can't really remember why, LOL but I have heard that they are excellent.

We have a Burley here, too.

I have heard and read good things about Chariot trailers, too, but didn't want to buy new when we already own a Burley. You might want to check out the Chariot website for info on their safety as I know they have been tested independently: www.chariotcarriers.com/html_english/safety_testing.htm

Also, it might be a good idea to check out cycling websites like www.cyclingforums.com to read some opinions.

We just bought a bike trailer it is a burley. We have new bikes so the attachment for the trailer does not fit them, as the bars on many new bikes are in different places. So we had to buy an alternate attachment. We dont have the alternate yet so we dont know how it will work out for us. I have heard that the burleys have good resale value and that they are sturdy, safe and as long as all you want it for is bike riding easy to handle.
A good site that I have found useful for this and other what should I buy questions is epinions.com. Regular people take time to write reviews on many different things and you can read and compare the different types of equipment, it will also list aproximate price.

We also have a Burley and 2 kids. Our kids are 2 1/2 and almost 5 but the 5 year old is very small, 2 year old average. I am not sure how much longer our kids are going to fit in it together. It's pretty small, and they have to be nice to each other in there!

DH always pulls it, he likes it a lot (and the last stretch home is uphill). Our kids LOVE it! Favorite part of their summer!

one last bump for this thread before I see my friend tomorrow.
thank you everybody. :)
