Anyone know about XL Airline?

My friends mother is looking into a trip to Paris and found tickets on "XL Airline" that are half the price of everything else.
Is anyone familiar with them? Are they legitimate and reliable?
Should she buy it from the French site since that's the only site where it's being offered?

XL airways went bust a few years ago, but I think part of the european operation survived.
