It is as a one star hotel :( on travelsheryl's website. At $50.00 a night it is the cheapest thing I can find, and it did not look bad...our vacation is VERY last minute! ...and we are really scrimping for money. Any info. on this or any other very cheap but clean hotels in WDW area would really help me out! Thanks guys!

Take a look at Magic Castle Inn and Suites... About $30 a night

www.magicorlando.com

everyone on this site that has stayed there tells us that it is clean and has no bugs... It has a fridge in every room and a free well stocked breakfast...

See my post below called Magic Castle Anyone???

We will be staying there in October

Hope this helps

I couldn't find anything this cheap, not even places that looked pretty dumpy. This is exactly what I was looking for, it is nice to be able to stay in a very fancy hotel, but we just can't afford it this time. I figure we'll spend all our time at the parks anyway!! I just booked a stay here, thanks again for the info!!

Tink 30-

A1-discount-hotels.com has Travel Lodge Hotel Maingate East rates at 39.95. If you then go to hotelkingdom.com and tell them that you found that rate at A1, then they will offer 36.90 (41.90 less $5 credit for being underbid by A1). This is the cheapest hotel rate we have found.
We haven't decided if this is where we want to stay. Would like more info. on the hotel. Please let us know how your stay is.

I just posted a review of this hotel on TravelSheryl's site:
http://pub4.ezboard.com/fpricelineandexpediabiddingfrm78.showMessage?topicID=88.topic

I stayed one night, but would not have stayed any more than that.

Since you have $50 per night to spend, why don't you use the strategies on TravelSheryl's site to bid on a 3* or Resort* hotel through Priceline? You could probably get the Wyndham Palace for $48 (plus $5 bonus) and the $8.88 resort fee. For a mere $7 more per night than the Travelodge you would have a very very nice hotel with good transportation to the parks. I also reviewed the Wyndham Palace today and both of my reviews include pictures.

I encourage you to take a closer look at TravelSheryl's site and Priceline. You could do a whole lot better than the Travelodge for $50. BTW, when are you going?

Thanks for sharing your review and pictures of the hotel.
The hotel doesn't look or sound too bad to me. At least you didn't pay a lot to stay there.

Hmmm ... I guess I need to re-write my review with stronger language.

Well ... let me reiterate that the whole 4th floor smelled bad like a skanky Dollar Store and that a musty odor came from the a/c unit everytime it went off. Honestly, I was somewhat afraid of Legionnaire's Disease from the darn thing since it was obviously not maintained well. Then again, maybe I was just being a little paranoid. I really wouldn't recommend this place for more than a day or two. Maybe another floor might be better because LissaK had the same problem on the 4th floor. She was also there for 1 night and you can read about what she said about it here:

Well, now that you put it that way, it does sound pretty bad. Your first review made it sound like you just had a bad room, but after reading your next post and LissaK's, it sounds like there is a big problem with the hotel.

Thanks again!:)

We also booked late & this was the only hotel we could get at late notice. We were supposed to have a balcony instead we had a small railing outside the window but the window would not open anyway, luch there was air conditioning. The bed was the largest I have ever seen there was a full size fridge and if you wanted to cook four burners there was also tea/coffe making facilities. I did not like the hotel I dropped some crisps on the floor they were still there when we went home {they were there three days.} There are plenty of shops by the hotel we used to go to Ponderosa the hotel restaurant did not seem clean the pool area seemed tatty also. We did not have a car and it was very tiring waiting for the buses. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Vicky:

Did your room and/or floor smell funny, or was it just the 4th floor in the front building?

We were on the 4th floor in the front of the building on the right looking down was McDonalds. I cannot describe the smell of the room and corridor even the lift had the smell. I just did not feel comfortable there. The linen seemed clean, but when guests left I never noticed blankets and quilts out for collection so that new ones could go on the bed for the next guest. :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

We stayed there on our last trip and never will again. Service was horrid. Our coffee maker didn't work. The free continental breakfast buffet was gone 15 min. after the doors opened (and nothing was replaced but the coffee). The room didn't feel clean and we had problems that didn't get resolved. For the same price we could have stayed at an AS hotel. BTW, "suite" in this case means a fold out sofa bed. Not much more room than a standard double hotel room. Where the table is usually in a standard hotel room is where the fold out bed was.

Keep looking.

This is standard practice in hotels in the US. Even the very nice ones, the WDW resorts included, do not change the blankets or comforters between guests.

We have stayed in Travelodges in four different states and EVERY ONE of them was a DUMP- smelly, musty, carpet you wouldn't want to walk barefoot on, etc. Why try four different times? Dunno...a couple of times we were truly stuck, a couple times we thought "well they can't all be bad"...WRONG! It is now our policy to avoid any Travelodge like the plague!
