Will Hall of Presidents ever open???

I assumed they would record a new speech by the current president. Perhaps they haven’t been able to do that yet. It is also possible that the building needed a deep refurbishment for items such as carpet, paint, upholstery, etc. They have just been so quiet about it that we don’t know what’s going on. I wonder how long it has taken in the past to update the show?

I agree that they are making it more difficult for themselves by giving the current president a speaking role in the show. I don’t have an issue with any new presidents being included, since this is a show about the office of the president and these are the people who have filled that role. My personal feeling is that if they only had Lincoln speak, instead of having each new president speak as well, they would have less downtime when a new administration comes in. The new animatronic could be prepared behind the scenes and installed quickly with little downtime. The only modification to the show would be adding them to the roll call. It wouldn’t necessarily get the new president installed more quickly, as they can’t finalize the animatronic until after they are elected, but they could continue to run the old show until they are ready to make the switch since the new addition wouldn’t be center stage, so to speak.

However, considering the controversies that seem to surround some of the more recent additions to the HoP, perhaps it is time to consider letting it go and putting a different show in its place. I just can’t think of a show idea off the top of my head that would work with the Liberty Square theme that wouldn’t overlap with the American Adventure show at Epcot. I guess that is why I am not an Imagineer! If I had to choose one show or the other to keep, I would prefer to keep the Epcot show.

While I love the idea of a HM restaurant, I think the HoP building is in the wrong location for it. I think a themed HM restaurant should feel like an extension of the attraction itself, as though they are in the same building. A better spot for it would be opposite Memento Mori to minimize the view of Carsland from the HM queue (I am so going to miss that river view!). If they didn’t already have LTT, they could have turned it into a Liberty Square themed restaurant. The plot of land is too small for most attractions to fit, so I don’t see how it could be anything other than a show. I just hope it opens as something soon.
I agree, I would prefer some kind of new show that is in theming with Liberty Square but gets away from all of the presidents. I could like a muppets show, I did appreciate the outside one they did a few years back. Also at some point they are going to run out of room if they just keep adding animatronics! I have zero interest ever seeing the hall of presidents again how it has been. I would love for there to be a new show that wouldn't have to go down every 4 years and wasn't polarizing regardless of political affiliation. Honestly I would love something about living in the colonial era times that isn't solely focused on presidents.

I've been waiting for news on this as well. If they wanted to close it, they could have easily announced it right before the elections. That would have curbed some of the push back.

I vote to keep it open. I enjoy it no matter who is in office. I've been enough times that I've heard people cheer for both sides. It doesn't affect me the slightest bit.

This is not a prolonged closure. According to WDWmagic:

https://www.wdwmagic.com/attraction...s-new-term,-closure-sign-raises-questions.htm

“During the last presidential update, the Hall of Presidents closed on January 20, 2021, to add President Joe Biden and reopened on August 3, 2021. Similarly, in 2017, the attraction was closed from January 17 to December 18 to incorporate Donald Trump's animatronic and speech.”

As a Canadian I can say that I've enjoyed the show. What I wish though is that people could keep politics out of it. Last time I went in there was jeering and boos and rude remarks loud enough to be heard. It's unnecessary. If that can't happen and people can't be adults then the attraction needs to be removed.

I think you hit the nail on the head here. Sadly, I'm not sure we'll ever get back to a place where people can leave politics out of anything.

And as far as I'm concerned, Disney is the absolute last place on earth where one should be forced to think about politics. Talk about bursting the bubble!!

We used to love the Hall of Presidents.

But now I really wish it would just go...

No, if people can’t be adults, security should remove them from the park & ban them for a length of time. If that happened enough, word would get around & the nonsense would stop. No reason to get rid of an attraction that many people do enjoy because of a few idiots.

If you think the attraction is too political & you don’t want to think about that in the park… skip the attraction. Not every attraction appeals to every guest. Again, the attraction shouldn’t be closed because a few people don’t like it. Anymore than Guardians should be closed because some people can’t ride it.

Just like the fighting has or the excessive drinking in epcot right.

I enjoy the attraction. The people in there make it unenjoyable. Why should everyone's experience be ruined because of a few people

It absolutely should open back up again as HoP, and there's no reason for them to drag their feet. One thing we need more of, not less, is a presentation of our history.
HoP, like CoP was fine as a straight up historical show. I can remember when it first open people would go to it and a large number of them thought that they were actors and not animatronics. It was impressive. They made it political by having the current President speak instead of like when they had Lincoln speaking and everyone else just nodding when their name was called. The air conditioning is just as cooling while it's a historic show as any other thing they put in there. And for those that seem to forget, it is located in a land largely themed for history. The steamboat, Haunted Mansion, HoP, the restaurants, the Freedom Tree all part of history.

I don’t think Disney should remove it entirely but I feel it would be better suited for World Showcase in Epcot. It just feels “out of place” to me in MK.

Yeah, because nothing says fun as much as security forcibly removing people from an attraction. What a pleasant Disney experience...

Security shouldn’t need to “forcibly” remove anyone. Someone who doesn’t know how to act in public being “escorted out” is better than permanently closing an attraction many people enjoy. And anyone who doesn’t comply with being asked to exit by security & instead needs to be forcibly removed deserves to be banned.

They should really update it and not include a speech by the current president no matter who they are. They can have the wide-shot, but no need to recite all of the names. Lincoln can speak since he's pretty much the safest choice. Either that, or just gut it and do something different entirely.

I think it is time it goes. I do not want CMs to constantly be dealing with rude guests and needing to get security involved because sadly people are too divided to sit and quietly watch the show. It's not a big draw and while I know it has fans with the space there they could put in a show that would be more popular and help with crowding in the parks.

More people might want to watch it in Epcot while touring all the countries.

Agreed. At the time MK was being built it was also getting Small World and Carousel of Progress from the World's Fair. The World's Fair also had Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln. Hall of Presidents was a next level of the Lincoln show ............. and Magic Kingdom was the only park. When EPCOT was built they really should have just moved it there because it is a perfect fit for the World Showcase. They still can, there is room. But it really has become a thorn for Disney and perhaps it's time to let it go. American Adventure does a better US history presentation.

And yes I wish Carousel of Progress would go too, valuable real estate. But until Disney is committed to make Tomorrowland a great land, might as well keep it open. I mean it only needs a couple CMs and pretty much runs itself but I'd still rather an awesome Tomorrowland.
