Anyone know about the Mickeys outside of MK?

Can anyone tell me about these Mickey's? A friend just came back from WDW and was showing me her pictures. I am wondering about all the Mickeys lined up at MK entrance. How long are they there for? What are they all about? What will happen to them afterwards?
They kind of remind me of the buffalo decorated and displayed all over Buffalo, NY a few years back!

Those are 75 Mickey statues decorated by (or for) various celebrities in honor of Mickey's 75th birthday. They'll be on display at the MK through April. More info here:

They auctioned off the Buffalo too after they had been on display awhile. Sure would be neat to have one of those Mickeys in my front yard!
