Although has nothing to do with disney nor food, thought I may ask my very dear friends here about crusie ships.
Hubby and I will be celebrating our 10 wedding aniversary and would love to take a criuse next March. We definitely don;t want the Disney one, we are gona do that with the kids when they are older. and we would like to leave from somewhere in FL, cause kids will be staying with grandparents while were away.
I know absolutely nothign about criuse ships. not sure where to go and which company to use.

here is what I am looking for.
a good price ( dont have alot of money!)
someting all inclusive.
Hubby likes scuba........
other than that I have never been out of the US so destination doesnt matter.

Time is an issue either, although aniversary is in march, any month theat may be cheaper is fine.
I may even consider going in January, while I am down there doing the marathon.

help!!!!!!

thanks guys.

How long would you like to go--for a first time, fun time, inexpensive time---I've enjoyed the Carnival Fantasy and have heard good things from people who have taken it recently.

Smaller Carnival ship--but all the glitzy fancy stuff of the larger boats.

In March, you will be up against the Spring Breakers, but Carnival changed it's ad campaign to cater to those who want a nice cruise experience and not a frat party and they've adjusted accordingly.

They have larger cabins than Royal Carribbean and they are less expensive--so your $$$ will stretch farther in getting a cabin.

They leave out of Port Canaveral on Thursdays and Mondays and their itinerary is the Bahamas.

Most any ship you go on for any cruise line, you will be able to find a scuba excursion in Port.

Royal Carribbean does have a private island, so if that appeals to you--you do want to go in that direction instead as Carnival doesn't have them.

renee - try the cruise board - i've seen posts before on cruising non-DCL

i have only cruised DCL, loved it!

Renee,

Do you have AAA? We've booked our cruises through them and it's always been really easy. We've done Disney twice and Carnival once...all out of Port Canaveral. Tampa and Port Canaveral are both an hourish from Orlando if you want to combine it with your marathon trip. We haven't been on Royal Caribbean yet, but that's the one I'd like to try next. I wanna do an Alaska cruise someday! Hmmm...our tenth is in 2007....

Renee,

DEFINITELY post on the Cruise board. Lots of DCL fans also sail other lines occasionally, and there's lots of good info there!

We've sailed DCL, Holland America (twice), once on Pricess (to Alaska), and I have another Princess sailing planned for March.

DCL is awesome, but considerably more expensive than you'll be able to find on most other lines. Since it's just you and DH, I think you'd love sailing on Holland America (especially their newer ships: the Zuiderdam or Oosterdam), on RCCL, Princess, Celebrity (or several other lines. :) ) I'd put Carnival and Norwegian at the bottom of the list due to the number of complaints I read about them (though I wouldn't rule them out if you see a deal you can't resist.)

* You'll find LOTS of sailings from Ft. Lauderdale and Port Canaveral.

* They're pretty much all-inclusive (alcohol and gratuities are the biggies not included. And shopping, of course. And spa visits. :) )

* There's lots of scuba to be had in lots of Caribbean ports.

Seriously, come to the Cruise Board. They'll be able to point you to several great websites to get you started. One warning, though: cruising tends to be addictive. ;)

And, to keep this on-topic for WISH :earboy2: : You'll probably want to get in shape to wear all those cute cruise clothes. And we'll need to figure out the best way to KEEP you in shape on board- there's more food than you can IMAGINE available on a cruise, everytime you turn around!

thanks all..........I will try to pull myself away from the WISH board and head over to the cruise board.
Keep em coming though

Try cruisecritic.com, they have boards like the Disboards, but it deals only with cruises. They have different forums for each cruise line and general questions.
We have gone on cruises with Celebrity and really enjoy the top notch service. Our first cruise we went through Boscov's travel, and AAA has some good deals as well. You can also check travelocity and expedia.

you might want to sneak to the UK community board, one of the moderators over there Simon V isn't just a Disney expert, but also a cruise guru. He's now based in Orlando so I'm sure he knows what leaves from where down there. I've cruised NCL which is great as you can choose where and when you want to eat each night. It's much less formal (though they do have dress up nights). My dream (other than the Mickey Medal) though is to go on one of the huge Royal Carribbean ships with the ice rink, I like the ships more than the ports!!!

I will definitely check out all those places (forums) I was thinking that although it may not be writen as a rule but, I would love to go on a ship with little or no kids.
I think I will miss my kids if I see someone else lol!

which is why I need this trip! I mean, I never took a honeymoon, or should I say my honey moon was my first trip to disney. My kids were 1 and 3 when I married, I couldnt bare to leave them behind so we went on a family friendly vaca.................
and then I got hooked!

on disney that is, hence,,,,,,,,,,,,we ( all of us ) have been back every year!
so a carnival rep says they are all family friendly ships. I know I mau not find one with no kids but perhaps there is rumor that one particular ships tens to have less families and more couples!

OMG! I almost feel bad saying this!

thanks again all.
