I have more than enough points saved up for our flights from Toronto to MCO but was wondering if anyone knows when they will take bookings AND what the "extra" fees will be -- taxes etc etc etc

TIA

I believe if the flight is available (ie: 350 odd days before you leave) you can book it. The fees are usually what you see when you check, say, WestJet's website and then I think Airmiles adds $20 or so (I might be wrong) for the booking. Normally it's around $150ish per person, total, for taxes and fees but can vary a bit up and down from that.

I booked about 6 months in advance for a weekend in New York City. The cost was $150 per person.

The thing I find with Airmiles is the flight times/dates seem to be fairly restrictive - and getting a non-stop. It may be different if you book really far in advance - I am usually looking about 3 months down the road when I have tried to book. And, agree with other posters that taxes etc runs around $150 pp. One other piece of info - I find using Airmiles for Park Passes rather than flights is a better use of my Miles, and we generally then geta better deal on a flight out of the US. Not sure if that is an option for you?

We paid $750 in taxes and charges for 4 flights from Winnipeg to Orlando.

The OP is flying out of Toronto, I'm guessing you had to connect in YYZ, so like us, when flying out of Calgary, really get hammered by the extra taxes.

WOW fast responses, thanks gang. I have done the bit of flying out of Buffalo on Southwest and though i found the service and price great, we did run into trouble crossing in the SNOW!! We don't want to be worried about getting stuck or driving our car there. Problem being we have one new car that we don't want to leave there and a gas guzzler that would cost far too much to get there.

Long and short? We want to splurge and take a car service from our house to Toronto (YYZ) and fly from there even if it does cost more. I was just wondering how much more and you have answered that THANKS!
