this will be our first time in disney and i was wondering if there is a Christmasy location in any of the parks to take a pic for our christmas card this year.

If you are heading down after Thanksgiving my all time favorite place is in front of the castle at MK. They have several Pointsettia trees in the gardens. I have the most beautiful shot of my kids with the beautiful red tree and castle in the background..I love it:thumbsup2

winter / summerland mini golf has some cute silly props also I believe there is a place at DTD by the xmas shop

If you are going after Thanksgiving you will find dozens of fantastic Christmas card photo spots. Each park has a very large decorated Christmas tree.
Magic Kingdom.
1) The town square with the Christmas tree.
2) In front of Cinderella's castle as KLAIT said is beautiful.
3) Main St is decorated.
4) Pictures with any of the characters dressed up for Christmas.
5) At the entrance to the park in front of the train station.
EPCOT
1) By the World Lagoon. The Christmas tree.
2) Topiary near the main entrance of Mickey and Minnie in Christmas theme.
3) The lighted archway near the World Lagoon.
Animal Kingdom
1) The large Christmas tree by the entrance.
2) With characters all dressed up for Christmas.
MGM
1) The Christmas tree.
2) Characters.
3) Hollywood and Vine.
4) The park near the Brown Derby.

Some of the resorts also have beautiful decorations. Ones I have seen at Christmas that are very nice.
Beach Club has a full scale 4 horse carousel made of gingerbread in their lobby along with poinsettas.
Boardwalk has a large display of an amusement park complete with ferris wheel, roller coaster and more, made of chocolate in the lobby that is fantastic.
Both the Grand Floridian and Ft Wilderness Lodge are decorated up beautifully.
It is worth taking a tour of the nice resorts between Thanksgiving and Christmas just to see the decorations.

Have a wonderful trip!:santa:

We have taken super-cute photos of everyone 'freezing' while wearing swimsuits and shorts in the 'snow' at Blizzard Beach. It works well if everyone kind of huddles and wraps their arms around themselves while 'forcing' smiles for the camera.
The best of these is in a double frame, of course, with one of the ones we took - dressed in bulky sweaters, hats and mittens and all - trying to look as hot as possible (not hard, really... :rotfl: ) while standing on the 'beach' at the Poly or in the desert-y area around Thunder Mountain.

And yes, we got all kinds of weird looks. And no, we don't mind. :thumbsup2

Are you kidding me? You will be in Disney. Where is there a BAD spot for a family picture? :rotfl2:

This is a great idea. I'm glad you mentioned it. We will be there after Thanksgiving and I never thought of using Disney as a backdrop for our Christmas cards. I love the Disboards.

Don't know when you're going but if you're there when the Grand Floridian has the Gingerbread house in the lobby it's gorgeous!

There is a fake snowman at MGM, near Mama Melrose's, The Xmas Store at Downtown Disney would be a cute backdrop. Also, behind the Xmas store thre is a statue of all the characters in winter outfits that the kids could stand in front of.....If you go anytime after Thanksgiving there are hundreds of opportunities for Xmas pictures. All the parks and resorts are decked out and all the characters in the parks will have on their Xmas outfits. A cute one is always with Santa Goofy! Happy picture taking!:goodvibes

I believe until after the filming of the XMAS parade on the 1st weekend in December, the XMAS tree will be near the rose garden. It makes for a nice opportunity to get the XMAS tree and the castle in the picture. We used it for our XMAS card 2 years ago!

check out winterland minature golf,a christmas theme put put..wife and I had our pic taken sitting a a sleigh.we then download to zazzel. And if you like minature golf, its fun. Hope this helps

Last year there was a lady pushing two boys (about 4 years apart) in one of the Disney strollers. They were both asleep and looking soooo cute. She said she took a picture of them and was putting it on her christmas cards and title it "Silent Night". I bet they turned out great. So maybe a candid shot would work as good as a set up portrait type picture.

I love the Pooh and Tigger benches at the Market place down town Disney.
The kids looked great. Not Christmasy...Just a really nice year round picture for family to keep on the fridge.

Here's a picture of the statues in Downtown Disney that were mentioned in a couple of above posts. These are behind the Christmas store.

Sorry I haven't figured out how to post a picture, but a couple years ago we did our Christmas card at WDW. We were there the beginning of December and while we took pictures in many places, the final two choices were one taken in the lobby of the Boardwalk by the christmas display there and the one we chose, which we took in Epcot at the Germany pavillion. they had a set up an area for the storyteller with a life size nutcracker soldier and a christmas tree. we stood in between them, the lagoon and the Epcot ball in the background. It came out great! We scooted to Walmart for 24 hour service, I had printed labels and they all went out with an Orlando postmark! (Plus it was great to have it done!)
If going after Thanksgiving, don't wrroy, there are tons of places. If you want somethin Christmassy before Thankgiving the winterland/sumerland mini golf is a great location. They do start putting up some holiday decorations in mid November.

thanx everyone for the post and great ides. we leave in 11 days. i'll be bringing our santa hats with us.:cool1:

I took so may pictures in the Christmas store and behind it just trying to get that PERFECT Christmas card picture. As it turned out, I got a beauiful random picture of my daughter and Minnie. I wrote have a magical Christmas! Walgreens has Disney cards. You just download your pictures, they print them and send them to you! They really turned out great!
