Anyone just see GMA report on "staged auto accidents"?

Wow...just saw this report on how criminals team up to force accidents and then cash in on insurance, mediacal etc. Unbelievable how awful this is, disturbing. Even worse, the amount of poeple invoved from drivers to doctors.

Yes, this has been going on for years. It happened to a friend of ours, it was really sad. Fortunately no one was hurt. A girl-20 years old or so- in our town did this a few years ago, she meant to cause a minor accident to get the insurance to fix her car but ended up killing a 4 year old and spending a lot of time in jail.

That's horrible. So infuriating. That's one of the reasons we all pay so much for insurance.

I feel stupid just hearing about this, sorry you have had to deal with it first hand. The poor child.

This was happening in the town where my parents live. Only expensive cars were targeted.

That's been going on forever. It happened to my mother when I was 4. Guy got caught though.

This happened to my Mother in 1986 and it happened to ME in 1998.

Thankfully, the insurance companies we dealt with(in 86 and 98) were onto both parties(these weren't novices) and everything was taken care of very quickly. Mom and I did not pay a dime for either incidence and the filing parties both were dealt with.

Reminds me of a case where these two men were charged with doing the same thing...and they both died in a car accident while on the way to court to face the charges. Almost enough to make you believe in karma.
