Anyone seen the refurb work at the hotels?Anyone been to Blue Lagoon? We love this restaraunt but have seen some very negative posts lately regarding the food.:drinking1

There has been a thread about this on DLP magic forum as well (I lurk there but dont post) and someone had contacted Disney to find out what was going on and been told it was just redecoration of rooms and guests were accomodated away from the area.

We ate at Blue Lagoon for 3rd time at Easter and had a lovely meal again. We like the restaurant but its not our favourite so we've decided not to eat there this time but would eat there again in the future.
We've eaten there 3 times and always had a good meal

I've just got back, last day there was 19th June, stayed at the Cheyenne. I didn't see any refurbishment of hotels while we were there.
Interesting The Blue Lagoon is mentioned we went there on the 16th, and the food was not good, my partner sent hers back and wasnt charged. I thought it was a great location, but the food quality was quite poor and very expensive!

 Split decision on the Blue Lagoon then! We will be giving it a whirl again just because we like the atmosphere, but if the foods not up to scratch it will be returned from whence it came!pirate:

I have just e-mailed guest relations to try and ensure that I am not placed in an affected room.

This trip is a birthday present and I only chose SL because of the view.

Fingers crossed it wont even be an issue!!

Let us know what reply you get, might be worth a line!

Hello. Just got home to New Mexico, USA after a l-o-n-g day from London. To answer your question, we checked out of the Newport Bay Club Tuesday July 1 after 5 days / 4 nights. We did not check out any of the other properties, however, the Newport is undergoing refurb (looked like mostly exterior painting?). Lots of scaffolding and mesh about, and lots of hammering during the weekdays. No noise during the weekend while we were there.

In reference to the Blue Lagoon, DW and I ate at the Blue Lagoon and thought it was ok. Nothing special. In fact, we ate at the Blue Lagoon, Walts, and the Yacht Club (twice). In general, the food was below par, at least with our expectations (Walt's was absolutely terrible - one of the worst meals I've ever tried to eat). We were so disappointed after reading so many glowing remarks on the disboards. In fact, look for a serious rant about our entire experience at DLRP after I get some much needed sleep - we've been up for about 24 hours.

Cheers!

Shame that your experience was not the best. Remember the restaurant review thread if you want to add about your experience :thumbsup2

It is a shame.

Well, we're going back to the Blue Lagoon again this summer as eldest DD was ill last time we went so had to miss out.

I'm hoping our review will be positive!!

I also just got back from a 3 night visit to DLRP and I also had a rather disappointing experience. Between "Labor Movements", several key rides not being opened during EMH, rides not being opened for most of the day, rude cast members and even more rude & pushy guests, it was not the Disney experience that I am used to or one that I wanted to end my European trip with.

Its a shame but I will SERIOUSLY have to reconsider whether or not I return to DLRP

That is a shame. What rides weren't opened? Were they ones not included on the refurb list? Must be awfully disappointing.

I know EMH only applies to Fantasyland and a couple in Discoveryland.

I know alot of rides havent been open etc due to maintance strikes etc, sorry you had a few bad experiences.

I got back last night, and had a wonderful trip!!

EMH was amazing, best part of the day, and everything was open. (well, crush broke down, but isnt that always the case!?!)

pacdomer, I'm sorry your trip was disappointing :flower3: but glad yours was great, torsie24. :goodvibes

I think there was some painting out the back, a guy walked past the window while we were having lunch in the bar one day, but absolutely nnothing going on at the front!!!

Scaffolding over the mcdonalds side of NPB when we left yesterday still.

Technically the front is not the lake view, that is the back of the hotel;) but its good to know most of the outside work seems to be finished.

Last Thursday, I got to the park right after 8:00 and Discoveryland was completely closed. So I spent some time in Fantasyland and then headed back to Discoveryland which finally opened around 9am. But both Buzz Lightyear and Space Mountain were closed due to the labor strikes. Being someone who enjoys rides that are a little more thrilling, this made EMH a little useless for me (though on Friday they were open during EMH and I got to ride Space Mountain once before my Fantasyland Breakfast).

The ride closures alone were not enough to disappoint but when combined with some pushy guests (I had read about this on the board but was completely shocked when confronted with it in person), some rude guests (who decided to have some fun at my expense) and finally some cast members who were unapologetic when offering poor service (I had to wait 15 minutes at an empty reception desk trying to check out of the Cheyenne while the cast members were having a chat in the back room - and when they finally showed up they acted like it was fine and then chose to tell me with an attitude that I did not have to come to the desk - even though I had not received a final bill confirming my charges) - it was enough to spoil my impression of DLRP (it outweighed the good service from some cast members and some good park experiences).
