How is the construction going? Is the walkway down to the beach nearly finished? What about the reported construction on the roof area of the Inn building? What part of the building has been completed? What part are they currently working on?

Any news?

Just back....we were there at the end of last week.

The walkway is really coming along. I can't imagine that it will be closed off for much longer...they were working on it diligently while we were there and it seemed to be nearing completion.

While we were there they were working on the Ocean facing part of the Inn Building. The entire front left quadrant (when looking at the building) was covered with scaffolding....it was covered with tarp material that is the same color as the building so it's not really that big of an eye sore considering. I'm guessing...but not sure....that the front right quadrant has been completed. Not sure what section they are heading to next. The CMs told us that 25 rooms were off market due to the construction that week.

We stayed in a Deluxe Ocean View Inn Room that faced the pool (2nd Floor) and still had a great view of the beach and ocean. The room was in perfect condition...not a single complaint about anything! The dehumidifier was running but that wasn't a problem and there was no dampness or musty smells at all.

Thanks for the report, we're getting there May 27th!!! My sister and a friend will be joining us, we have ocean view rooms, oh my, it's so hard to wait!!

Thanks for the update. DH and I will be visiting Vero for the first time in 2 weeks! I'm very much looking forward to this vacation.

Was the roof work noisy or bothersome in any way other than viewing the scaffolding?

The roof work didn't bother us at all. As a matter of fact, we didn't notice much noise at all the entire time. The only time we really heard anything was when we were walking directly in front of the scaffolding area.

Vero Beach was amazing and actually had me contemplating buying resale here. I found the staff to be super friendly and quite up to Disney's standards in terms of customer service and enthusiasm! The resort itself is simply beautiful....of course having those amazing views of the ocean help!

We enjoyed spending time at the pools partaking in all the activities offered. But the beach itself is really great and the water temps were warm enough for us to swim in the ocean!

Enjoy.

Can anyone tell me what kind of activities there are at vero. We will only be there a few days, and I plan to enjoy the resort but are there dolphine cruises or turtle and beach walks? Are they part of the resort or are they another business? :confused3

Thanks Amybeth68. Sound like the construction won't be a problem at all!! I've even started looking at the resale page before our trip! :teeth: Those beach cottages look sweet!

Last month there were a lot of reports about sharks near the Florida beach shores. Has there been a problem recently? We are going next month and have been concerned.

Thanks,
DJ

Maybe you can tell us the difference between the deluxe Inn rooms Vs the studios. Once you have a reservation, is it hard to change your request, or are there penaltys? We have a studio for the second week in July and were thinking of an Inn Room as it would be a better view, if I am understanding right. If anyone could give us input on the differences, that would be great.

One difference is that the Inn Rooms have 2 beds instead of the bed and sleeper sofa. Also, it is possible to get connecting Inn Rooms (if you want room for 8 or just to have 2 rooms). That is kind of nice. We haven't done it, but I can see how some would like to have this option.

You can reserve a Garden View (less points) or an Ocean View Inn room (I don't know about the studios, we haven't used one of those). There is still a Kitchenette in the Inn Rooms. Also, there is a nice laundry room on the top floor of the Inn (no charge). The restaurants are also inside the Inn, so that is convenient.

That is all I know, but we have only visited 1 night (last year before the hurricane season), so I am sure there are others with better information than I would have for you.

Thanks for the information. I'm thinking I want an Inn room I will call MS tomorrow to see if I can change without penalty.

Hi all! :wave2:
Just got back from a week at Vero on Sat. night. :teeth: :Pinkbounc
Had an awesome time!

As of Sat. they were still working on the roof right above Shutter's and the doors to the Inn. They're replacing all the shingles from what it looked like. They seem to be doing one side of the Inn at a time. So I suspect that when they're done with the left side they'll move on to the right...unless they've already done the right :confused3
We didn't hear any noise from the construction though while we were there and it didn't deter from our visit in any way. We had a 1bdrm villa in bldng.14 though so we wouldn't have heard anything from our room anyway. But didn't hear any while in the main bldng. at the resturants or while at the pool.
The beach access is almost complete. The said at the beginning of our stay that they were hoping to have it open mid week. It didn't happen while we were there but we did have 2 days of rain on Wed. and Thurs. so I'm sure that had to do with it.

Everything else was wonderful and up to par. For those who booked an ocean view inn room, they seem to be keeping the oppossite side of the inn from which they work on in full swing. So they aren't taking them all out of service. HTH's:wave:

We're going this summer for the first time. I'd also like to know about resort-sponsored activities, especially for the lil ones. Is it kind of like a summer-camp kind of program like they have at HHI? It's nice for the kids to get a first hand experience with beach environment, ocean wildlife and birds and such. Oh, how is the ocean there...are there many jellyfish?
