Just curious - with all the talk of people getting moved to various resorts due to construction, did the hotel (and the pool, busses, etc.) seem less crowded?

Anyone know approximately how many rooms can't be occupied now?

Thanks!

I would like to know too because we were talking about staying there.

Was there June 20-23. All of the 6th floor and a bit over half of the 5th floor are closed off completely. The work on the 5th floor was on the Zebra Trail side of the resort. I heard that some rooms on the 4th floor were also taken out of inventory because they need to get into them to do plumbing work. We heard very little noise (but were only there in the afternoon on 2 days). The resort still seemed very full - the pool was definitely crowded the day we used it. They were definitely at peak occupancy for however many rooms they now have - we tried to get late check-out for one of our 2 rooms and were told that not only couldn't we get it, they were short rooms for people arriving the day we were checking out.

The concierge lounge is temporarily located in the Presidential Suite on the 5th floor. It had just moved the Monday of the week we arrived. A CM told me they expect to be there for 3 months before moving back up to the 6th floor. That leads me to believe that the 6th floor will be done by the end of September.

Thanks Sharon!

"they were short rooms for people arriving the day we were checking out." Oooh, that doesn't sound good.

That is great news about the inside construction because we'll be there the end of October.

Boma is never very busy at b'fast or lunch. Go for dinner and you will see quite a difference!

Now see???? Everytime I am there for breakfast I am having to wait to get my table! And that's usually in the off season!! :confused3

No, it's not open for lunch. I have seen Boma's very busy for breakfast. We were surprised how dead it was. The food was delicious!:goodvibes

Thanks. It's been a year since my last stay at AKL so I wondered if maybe something had changed since I was last there.

Me, too! I'm watching all of these threads closely and hoping that we don't have any problems with construction or room availability.

We just got back from AKL. We had a Savannah view with a queen size bed and bunk beds. The room had a perfect view of giraffes, zebras, and bongos (type of animal like an antelope). We were very far removed from the construction, in fact, it did not impact us at all until the day of check out when we spent 3 hours in the lobby before the Magical Express pick-up. We saw the construction-the 4th floor was blocked off and we could hear some equipment. The pool was very crowded any time we used it. We also found the pool water very warm-almost to the point of not being refreshing. The kids didn't care however. Disney transportation was VERY RELIABLE. At times the buses were full to the point where a few people had to stand, but they were always air-conditioned. I am happy to answer anymore questions. It was our kids' first trip, son 9, daughter 6. It was truly a great trip!

Thanks so much for the review. Which trail were you on? We are going in Sept. and have 2 bunk bed, pool view rooms. Do you think the construction affects people with savannah or pool views, or both?

I expect they will still be working on the Kudu trail at that time. They seem to be doing the work in this order: Zebra trail, 5th and 6th floors in the lobby area plus the Giraffe and Ostrich trails, and finally the Kudu trail.

Why did you spend 3 hours in the lobby before ME pick-up? Was your ME bus delayed?
