Anyone just back and did the DVC tour? Or have information on it?

Not sure where to post this, sorry, feel free to move it. I am wondering if anyone has come back recently and signed up to do the DVC sales tour/sales pitch. We are thinking of purchasing, and I was curious how it went, and what they are "offering" to do the tour (or whatever it is). My brother did it last year and they received all day fastpasses.

Haven't done it yet, and would be curious to hear what others have to say. We will be in Disney in September and plan on taking the tour then. We too are very interested in purchasing, I plan on making an appointment the day we arrive for our off day (hopefully). I can't wait, we are very excited about seeing BLT since that is where we would like to purchase. What is so funny is that we could basically take the tour anytime we want (live in a Chicago Suburb and the Schaumburg DVC store is about an hour away from us) but like my DH said, the tour gives us another reason to go to Disney, not that that is the only reason why we are going :goodvibes

Just did it last week. It was actually a great experience. As someone who said 20 years ago that I'd never do another timeshare sales pitch after DH and I were pressured, badgered and embarrassed, it was a last minute, "Oh why not" decision. I was very impressed. We had a car so we didn't need them to pick us up. I would encourage driving if you do as otherwise you might wait on their transportation as some did while we were there. The "sales" pitch was hardly that at all. No pressure whatsoever. The two younger kids played in the play room. We toured two replicas (AKL and BLT) that were right there at Sarasota (but very believable.) Our rep gave us a tote bag with our info, a $100 Disney gift card and some brochures. We were then taken to the ice cream parlor where we all got to choose ice cream and toppings. They then gave us a free Disney digital picture of our family that we took right there and we were done. We are considering the purchase - in part because they were so professional. Our rep was named "Gib" and he was fabulous. He's been there since the beginning of DVC so he knows all the ins and outs and is very low key. He gave us tips that I'm not convinced everyone there would know just because of his longevity. I got the sense that some of the newer ones were a little "hungrier" although I didn't actually see or hear anyone pressured. We have friends who own and so we are reading our material. They also work very hard to keep it to one hour. I can't believe I'm saying this but...I would recommend the experience.

I'm going to move this over to DVC-Operations, where you'll find lots of folks who've recently taken the tour and are considering purchasing. :)

praisefor3, Thanks for the information. But I'm curious at to what prices were quoted during your tour? Sometimes a better rate is given during a tour and sometimes it's the same. Appreciate you sharing your experience.

We did the tour on Monday, and actually just bought into AK!

We really enjoyed the presentation (obviously) and did not feel pressured. We initially decided to go because they offered us a $100 GC. (We were told the GC offer is ending soon)

We were offered $12 off per point and all '09 points without having to pay maint fees. We were also given the option to buy in at only 100 points at AK (not sure if ypu can buy in at 100 at BLT or not) At the end of the presentation, we were also given a card we could use to get an automatic FP for 3 rides (We used them on our last day at Epcot)

Hope that helps you out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

We are also considering the presentation, but did I read right that if we drive to the presentation it is in Sarasota? I just assumed it would be somewhere on property...

Leaving tomorrow! :yay:

It's at the Saratoga Springs Resort, just across the water from Downtown Disney.

The DVC Presentations are at "Saratoga Springs" resort which is a Disney property resort. If you make an appointment at any DVC Kiosk, they will pick you up in the van and provide free transportation. There is no need to drive your own vehicle. :cool2:

Sarasota is on property.
Sarasota Springs Resort is adjacent to Downtown Disney.

Orsino - it's not SaraSOTA (as in Florida) :rotfl:

It's SaraTOGA (as in New York) - that's why people were getting confused!

Hello,
We were there this past April and we were also offered the same as you but we got some fast pases the first time we went there and the second time as we had additional questions. We did not drive and we had to go to the Catholic church and they took us there! How many points did you buy at AKV? we are concidering buying at both BLT and AKV with a December UY as we will travle mostly in April and summer months.

Wow, we went on the tour last Tuesday and didn't get a gift card, just insta-Fastpasses. We got 4 cards with 3 rides each on them, which was pretty nice.

We were also extremely impressed, both by the center and by the low pressure sales. We are in the process of buying a BWV resale now, we wanted that over BLT and they had no incentives on it. Our daughter had lots of fun in the kids club!

We bought 160 points. We thought about the smaller contract but we really need more than 100 points.
