My husband was just diagnosed this past month with MS. It really hit us out of no where. Is there anyone else out there (or significant other) that has it? Any advise and tips on were to start? I want to find some good sources, and talk to some people on things they have been successful with to curb the progression of this disease.

I have been going to a MS clinic for a year now so I sent you a pm of a place where I go to get informations. Hugs

Thank you very much!!! Has she noticed any side effects with that particular medication?

Her biggest and only complaint was that it made her tired the day after she took it. As a result she would take the shot Friday evening so she could rest all day Saturday.

Thank you very much for the tip! :wizard: We are going to get his medication regimen this week. Tips like that really help out. Especially when we have 3 little ones under 5. I will also tell him not to take it the night before we go to disney too! :rolleyes1

I don't know anyone personally who has MS, but my job entails researching insurance benefits for high tech medications, including those for MS. My suggestion would be to Google the six medications currently approved for MS treatment (Acthar Gel, Avonex, Betaseron, Copaxone, Rebif, and Tysabri) for more information about the medications and their effects on MS. Each of the manufacturers of these medications have patient assistance programs that help newly diagnosed patients adjust to life with MS.

Hope this helps!

I have MS. I have been diagnosed with it for over 5 years.
My injection treatment is Copaxone. I take this daily. I have no side effects from it.
The only thing that does bother me is the heat. It makes me not feel right.
I am also on medicine for fatigue associated with MS.

My sister was diagnosed years ago as well, is on Avonex injections. She is doing very well. However, her Dr. has asked her to protect her skin from the sun while on Avonex. She does well on Avonex, however, she does feel tired the next day. She takes the injection on Friday nights, and Saturday she's wiped out, but back to normal on Sunday. Also, it's a self injecting med. You'll need dr. note to travel with medication and syringes if you choose this kind of treatment. Under the care of her dr., she attends a special gym for working out with her own personal trainer. health insurance pays for it.

Advise? eat healthy, and keep fit. Good luck to you! :grouphug:
