Hi , we are off on our first trip in a couple of weeks and I have seen a few trip reports that are saying that there is a lot of rain . Really confused as to what clothes to pack ! Help please

It will still be warm even if it is raining :goodvibes

A showerproof lightweight jacket or a poncho is all you will need :thumbsup2

I'm here at the mo. it's stupidly hot (cast member yesterday said its like it was August again), but as is usual in Orlando, there's nearly always an afternoon shower. Pack for hot weather but either pack a lightweight waterproof jacket or get a poncho.

Thank you for the advise it really is a great help . I have just been reading your lovely trip report , can't wait to get there as it my first time !!! Very EXCITED !!

Would've thought the rain would freshen you up and then the heat would dry it off again! Lol! Heard it's 30C even when it rains out there at the min! :)

Get yourselves a poncho and don't let the rain get in the way of a good time

If you are able to put out for the proper Disney ones, they are really nice and thick and I prefer them to the cheap ones we took one year that ripped first use and ended up in the trash (false economy lol). If your Disney poncho tears or anything happens to it they will exchange it for you - even a few years on.

October weather is awesome and the rain usually lessens the further you go into the month

ETA: I always needed a light cardi or something over my shoulders when we got onto the air conditioned buses.

Well it better knock that off by the end of the month :firefight

Happen to know how much the proper Disney ponchos are?? Might be a good investment for future years! :) Also, are you allowed to take bags on rides at WDW?? :confused

Thank you so much for the advise , it's so hard being a first timer . Yes I think I will invest in the Disney poncho's had them in Disneyland Paris many years ago . So excited want to start packing but need to leave lots of room for my goodies that I want to bring home !! Peanut Butter M&M's for starters : ))

You can take bags onto most if not all rides, however be aware that while you can take them on, storage space differs greatly by ride, some will fit a huge rucksack, some will only fit smaller bags

And I think the ponchos are about $8 ish

Yep, it's that hot at the mo that even the rain doesn't help. Just makes it more humid

We have had ours for about 3 years now. I think we paid around $8 for them. Oh and I bought DD an adult one even though it was way too big as the kids ones won't give much wear unless your child is really little or you live locally and are going to use them regularly so keep that in mind too

Yes you can take your bags on rides. In fact there is nowhere you can leave them so you would need to

You get all kinds of M&M's there :worship:

I think what floored me with the weather was that it was still gorgeously warm in the evenings but I don't cope well with cold and blowing a fan or aircon on me is something I cannot stand :furious: :rotfl: So it does feel strange in 30+ degrees putting a cardi into a bag to take with but for me it is worth it even just for a 10 minute bus trip back to the resort

DD is fine with her short sleeves but she doesnt feel the cold at all so we have the two opposite extremes.

ETA Sorry Karen, I have repeated you. I think I was still typing after you posted lol

My BIGGEST worry weather wise is that my neurological symptoms are affected by temperature and I know there are no accommodations WDW (or any of the parks for that matter) can make that will really help. Will be OK if the temperature stays quite static at a certain temp once my body has had a day or 2 to adjust :(

So it's unseasonably warm at the moment then... hope it stays that way as we're off there in 13 days :cool1:

We've always found that at this time of year you will get a sharp heavy shower out of nowhere that lasts about half hour, empties out the tourists from the parks, and then stops :goodvibes

Your challenge will then be going from inside (cold air conditioned restaurants and shows, buses etc) to the heat outside. Many of the queues are under cover or inside but there are some instances where you would want/need to line up for something and be outdoors for a while. Perhaps being aware of the extreme temp differences from inside to out, will help you plan to avoid the sudden changes/manage them where possible

Been numerous times in Oct, next week we will be taking shorts & Tshirts, no longs, no coats etc.
As for rain we either stay out in it or if its really heavy go in a shop while it passes, I hate ponchos, not just the look but with it being so humid I end up wetter inside due to sweat, rather get wet with rain.

If your going to the Florida mall the m&m store does not sell the peanut butter ones :confused3

We buy all our sweets in the CVS kind of like a WH Smith meets boots. That place has all the varieties and lots of other stuff. DH loves the Milky Way midnights which are kind of like a mars bar. We brought back almost 7kgs one year lets just say we were hitting our max on the suitcase weight load with those and all the other stuff we bought.

Don't worry too much about the rain as everyone has said it is still warm and even when it's heavy (you'll not believe how heavy it can get) it usually clears up and will have dried up quickly as well. We have been on a ride when we have gone on its been raining come off not long after and it's stopped and almost dried up.

Have a wonderful time pixiedust:

On our trip Aug/Sep we had a few afternoons with rain showers and about 3 days with a really heavy shower. These only lasted around half an hour but as previous posters have said, can be VERY heavy! We walked around in most of the rain as it is still warm and quite refreshing with the heat. During the really heavy downpours we headed for the nearest shop or cafe or attraction until it passed over.

We did buy one rain poncho but it was to cover DH motorised scooter as on our first day in Epcot it was parked outside of Ellen's Energy and when we came out it was pouring down. The scooter survived but DH had to endure soggy shorts for a while :rotfl2:

Oh and Pretzel m&m's every time! We brought loads back as gifts and everyone loved them. The UK biscuit ones aren't anything like them, the salty pretzel plus chocolate is unbelievable! :cool1:

Not sure I would say it was unusual as we have been this time of year in the past and had the weather and temps I have seen. Love this time of year :goodvibes
