Anyone in December getting FP+ and MB

I totally agree, but yes, if you booked there as well, it will eventually pop up. But now, technically that would be a December check in, and hasn't been released yet, but part of your split stay. Right?

That's just how they're doing it right now for the test, issuing a new set of bands for each reservation. I'll take them. LOL I'll get each one in a different color!

Sure, lets just keep raising prices so we can give guests revisiting new MBs. Makes sense. :p

Not working... I'm at 73 days. Going to the site above and doing escape I can see my dates but cannot select any days hence cannot select next.

Now asking again - would it make sense if we are paid in full or not?
When I follow those directions, it lets me get all the way to select my specific dates. I can see Dec 4-9 and on each day it shows me my plans ( what park I am going to and where I am eating) and at the bottom it says " select" which is greyed out for me right now. But I have never been able to see any of this before. That, along with what I said yesterday about my " select FP+ " button activating makes me think pretty confidently that FP+ is right around the corner for december. I check in Dec 3.

Here is what it looks like:

I'm going to assume you're trying to be funny, because I don't think I in any way said this. Disney is the one choosing to send out new MBs for every reservation. But that means that I somehow want them to raise prices?? It's not like I can say... I don't want these, take them back please.

It's hard to convey humor and sarcasm sometimes on the internet.

You do realize that each set of MBs costs Disney very little, right? Even with the current overnight shipping I am sure it doesn't cost Disney more than a dollar or two per band. I have no doubt that the shear volume of bands produced and packages sent out gives Disney a very nice bulk rate for each. Factor in the increase in guest spending that Disney has reported with the bands and I am sure Disney is still far into the black.

As for the multiple sets of bands, this is a new program. Nearly 100% of guests do not have bands at this point, even with the multiple sets sent out to return guests. I am sure it is much easier and cheaper to send out new bands for each reservation during this testing phase than to develop and test another computer program that shows which guests already have bands. Eventually they will get to the point where they can move to that phase and they won't send new bands to guests who already have them.

Yes, I was making a joke, that's why I put the sticking out the tongue thing there.

Yeah, my Pop checkin is December 7th. So that would make sense why the Pop bands havent popped up for Pop Century yet. I expect Pop century to pop their bands out pretty soon though. Just waiting for a release day to pop up somewhere.

I'm wondering if after the test date is over if they will start charging for magic bands, though.

I think you are right and it is just around the corner. :)

Even though I already have my MB & fp+ from my Nov 30th check in, I still check this thread all the time. I'm hoping that everyone in December gets it soon, too. :)

Reportedly, the cost of the MagicBands is built into the room rate. Even though they say DME is "free", the cost for that is also built into the room rate.

My comment was more saracasm than attacking Disney or anyone in particular. I am aware of the cost of mass producing and shipping something, so I know that it probably isn't costing them much. The bands themselves have probably already been produced so they aren't losing anything since the inventory is existing. Since it takes a couple of days after your customization period to receive the bands, it shows that they're already made, they just print your name on there and then connect it somehow to configure it with your information. I'm sure all of that takes a matter of a couple of hours to complete.

As for this being a new program, I understand that as well. But honestly you have to admit there was some shortsightedness in the fact that they didn't build into the application a way to ask you if you already have a band so you can link new reservations to it for new trips. MDE appears to have been built from the ground up, although I could be wrong about that. I see it all the time in IT, a new application comes out and you use it for a bit and then you go back to the developer and say "This is great, but why didn't you include X", to which the developer responds "Oh! I never even thought of that!" I'm willing to bet that is what happened here as well.

I don't know how to do a screen shot on an iMac. Only the iPhone. LOL

I have a reservation checking in on October 26th. I DO also have an AP. But... my room is also a DVC room booked on my points, NOT a MYW package or anything like that.

So it may not completely blow your theory out of the water. ;)

I do agree though, that once this is fully rolled out, it would seem like 60 days is going to be the magic number. Maybe in peoples' cases with packages, 60+14. People like me with APs... maybe just 60. I don't know.

just to circle back- like clockwork today 12/25 also went blue and so still rolling 60+14.

Actually I have AP's and a FW Cabin cash reservation for end of December, then we move over to BW on points. So I'm thinking the FW cabin reservation is what prompts the 60+15.

perhaps an AP only will get just ~60.

All just speculation on my part.

Not sure how to do a picture link- but i think this should show you what I can see on that little calendar:

I was thinking I hope Disney allows us to reuse them and maybe in the future they offer your first set free and for other stays if you want new ones its a extra fee

From what I've read and heard, they should last 3 years with the battery that is in them. So, no reason why they can't incorporate something that lets you reuse them on the website. I'm sure now you have to call to get that taken care of by a CM or IT member.

If that's the case maybe they can offer a small discount for reusing them I can only hope :) if not more then likely everyone would just get new ones

From the MagicBand & Cards FAQ:
Q. I have multiple MagicBands or cards. How do I manage them?

A. You manage your MagicBands or cards in the MagicBand section of My Profile. For example, you are able to:
  • Activate or deactivate MagicBands or cards
  • Report a MagicBand or card as lost
  • Customize MagicBands before they are shipped
Multiple MagicBands or cards can be assigned to a single person, so activating a new MagicBand or card does not mean that you must deactivate an existing MagicBand or card. All active MagicBands or cards assigned to a person have access to the benefits and entitlements for that person. Adding a new MagicBand or card does not add new entitlements, such as additional theme park admissions.

If you require additional assistance managing your MagicBands or cards, please contact us or visit any Guest Relations location at Walt Disney World Resort.

I know that you can deactivate bands that you have. I'm more talking about a box or drop down that asks "Do you already have a MagicBand that you would like to use" to which you can check or respond yes. If you respond yes, you don't get a MB. If you respond no, you get one.

One thing I just thought about, is I haven't seen the band to see if there is some sort of identification number on it somewhere. I would assume they wouldn't put one on there for privacy type reasons. So I'm not sure how you would tell Disney which band it is that you want to use. So that might be some sort of sticking point. Curiouser and curiouser.... :scratchin

i believe there is a unique serial number on each. Which makes complete sense-

I'd also assume later on they clean up the waste of multiples for split stays and quick turn arounds.

But from the history of Disney IT it's no surprise they're not there yet to me.

For example I would have assumed it was much closer to beta testing than alpha testing when they subjected actual paying customers to it. They shouldn't have been inviting random participants as soon as they did and even now it's not clear it's ready to be unleashed on the unsuspecting masses even though it looks as though it's about to be set free for all resort guests moving forward.

if you want a bigger picture of how they can't handle computers or the web-
.go.com ?

I think the problem is, if its not visible with the naked eye, how do you see it? Disney's RFID readers can read it, but that's probably proprietary so there would be no way you would know what the identification number on it would be.

Anyways, I apologize for hijacking the thread. You guys can get back on topic now.

on the back of the band where they put your name is a serial number that is visible if i am remembering correctly.

If you dont customize in time then your name isn't on the bands and everyone in your party gets the same (gray?) band at check in without their name on it. So there needs to be a way to identify (although probably you need a sharpie in that event anyway because who's going ro remember a 25 character hex number or whatever it is- lol)

no real hijack in my mind since we're all just stalling waiting for real news... t

Correct, the ID number is on the back of MagicBand. It's a 12 character hex code and if you select a MagicBand on the 'MagicBands & Cards' page, the code is displayed there also.

I've been checking MDE since we check-in in just 55 days but nothing has changed for me, I still manage magic bands and cards (not customize magic bands), but I'm hopefully December check-ins will open up eventually. I'm glad to find this thread though so I can see when other people are starting to make strides!
