Anyone familiar or live in the Baton Rouge area who can answer a traffic question for me??

A couple of months ago we had gone down to New Orleans and we passed back through BR on our way home. It was a Friday evening about 5:30, and the traffic was so backed up at the bridge crossing into BR. It was crazy:scared1::eek:

Is the traffic always this backed up getting over the bridge on Friday evenings? The day we leave for Orlando will be a Friday evening, and we’ll probably roll into BR about 5:30. If this is the norm, I’m looking for an alternate route. I’m coming from the Leesville/Ft. Polk area. Any advice would be appreciated :)

We are in Lafayette and our experience passing through Baton Rouge on Friday afternoon/evenings has always been bad. The traffic is always very heavy at that time. We normally fly out of New Orleans when we go to Disney and we have started taking Hwy 90 from Lafayette through Morgan City to New Orleans. It is a bit longer but we have never experienced any trouble with traffic no matter what the time is or the day of the week. From Alexandria you would take I-49 to Lafayette and that turns into Hwy 90. There are a couple of spots once you get past Thibodeaux where you have to slow down going through some of the small towns but it really isn't bad. Just before Boutte you exit from Hwy 90 onto 310 and the Airline Hwy exit to the airport is about 3 miles or so down. There are airport signs posted. It is very easy drive from Lafayette. Hope this helps!
