hi everyone!!

I'm taking an online summer class through ASU for Business Writing, and we have to interview someone in a field that we are interested in going into. I'm currently on vacation in Bar Harbor, and I don't really want to go bother local bankers unless I really have to. My mom actually suggested that I ask on here, since there is such a diverse group of people. I'd just need to email a few questions. Is anyone out there doing banking??

Thanks so much!!

I am a teller at a bank. I also worked in the proof department before becoming a teller. If that will work for you feel free to PM me. :)

I was an accountant in a bank, you can PM me as well. I'll answer any questions you have, if I can.

I worked in internal customer service for a bank, and I now work in HR (same company). Feel free to PM me as well if you'd like

Thanks so much everyone! I'll send out PMs either later today or tomorrow. Just bumping back up for the morning crew. Anyone else, especially in management?

I'm a commercial lender with a Canadian Bank (I work in Canada)..have doen prev. people management with this firm. Lending in the range of 250m to 5 million.

I have clients who are "bankers" and you should be aware that there are a lot of positions, with widely different rates of compensation. The "relationship managers" are essentially sales people---they go out and try to drum up new customers, new loans from old customers, try to convince business people to move their banking relationship, etc. I get the idea that these are the people who can make a significant amount of money (as opposed to the people who check things off of checklists in the collateral department, etc.)

Yep...bonus structure for new clients and overall increase in gross revenue for my portfolio.

And yes my title is Relationship Manager...or lady who eats out for lunch quite often....

During my 20-21 years in banking, so far, I started out in Collections. When I came to my current bank, 18.5 years ago, I started as a management trainee in deposit operations. I managed the bookkeeping area and have dabbled in bank marketing. I have been responible for the IT department for about 15 years. I have setup the teller system and the new accounts software. I have setup the safe deposit box accounting, the financial accounting systems and the item processing (proof) systems. I'm responsible for the telecommunications, ATMs, networks, etc. Aside from managing MIS, I am also the manager of the item processing area.

Basically, I've touched every aspect of my bank. I'd be happy to help you.

I was Vice President of Marketing in the credit card division at JPMorgan Chase. I'd be happy to answer some questions for your project. Feel free to PM me.

I was a part-time teller in a bank before I had my children. You can PM me if you'd like.
