Hi everyone,
DFi and I are talking about a June '08 wedding (nothing set in stone yet) and if we end up honeymooning at Disney, I'd like to wait till value season to make our dollars stretch further and to not have to deal with crowds (we learned on the last trip that DFi will mutiny if made to be at rope drop every day, so the more relaxed pace made possible by an off season trip is good for us). Did anyone wait a couple months to have their honeymoon? In hindsight was this a good decision or a bad one?

We did... we married in May and took our honeymoon to Disney in September. I loved doing it this way... you had time to unwind and then are able to look forward to the honeymoon

I think its a fine idea if it works for you!

Personally, after our wedding, DH & I felt an urgent need to get outta dodge for a while & couldnt wait for our honeymoon to begin!;)

I dont know if your June wedding is set in stone, but maybe if you move that to off season too you'll save even more & can then take your honeymoon right after you marry?:confused3

Good luck & enjoy whatever you decide!:goodvibes

We did,we married in July and went to Hawaii the following May.

Yep - married in October 1998, went to WDW in September 1999. We just couldn't afford it right when we got married.

We may have to do this due to DFi's limited vacay days.

Actually, I work in a concert hall that has a gorgeous lobby, and we are considering doing either the reception or the whole she-bang there, as I could do it incredibly cheaply and simply (easy access to audio support, onsite inexpensive catering, pretty setting so less as far as decor, setup myself, etc). Their season runs mostly Sept-June (there's some summer events, but MUCH less than during the busy season) so I actually switched my thinking from Sept to June to accomodate this. My college roommate will be in Europe for August and early September, and July is too oppressively hot so that's why we're thinking June now.

If we do go another direction, I would love a late september wedding. I'm just not set in stone over anything like that (as long as it's nice weather- ie not cold or the sauna that is July in VA- I'm fine). I'd much rather look at options and see what being open about seasons might save us- no sense in spending more than we need to if we can do it nicely at a more moderate price, and save more for the honeymoon :thumbsup2

We waited six months. Got married in January and went on our honeymoon in may. Didn´t see a problem in it at all.

We got married late September, and had a December honeymoon. I really liked spacing it out, it worked for us. I think your idea to get your Disney Dollar to stretch a little during value season is a great one, and you'll get to avoid the crowds! Congrats!!:cloud9:

We plan on doing the same thing. The wedding is planned for Sept 07 and the honeymoon won't be until next March or April in Mexico.

I didn't but I wish I would have. I think we'd have enjoyed our trip more. We got married on September 14 and took the 7 am flight to Orlando on the 15th. It was just too much. BEtween all the stress and lack of sleep for the wedding, and then all the things we tried to cram into our honeymoon, we had fun but we didn't enjoy ourselves as much as we might have not heading into it already exhausted. If I had it to do over again I would wait at least a few days if not more. Plus, then you can head off some of the post wedding letdown by having something else to plan for and look forward to.

got married 26 years ago - not sure when we'll have a honeymoon......

I like the idea of having it at the theater. It's very unique and it's special to you.

DH & I still haven't taken a honeymoon, :confused3 . We just didn't have the money to do so after we got married. We've never actually taken a trip alone either w/o my ds. I'm really hoping to do this for our 10 yr anniversary (which is in 2 more yrs).

Anyway, I don't see anything wrong w/ it as long as you both agree on it. My sister and her dh waited about 6 weeks to take their honeymoon. They were going to Vegas and her 21st bday fell a few weeks after the wedding, so they wanted to wait until then.
