This thread makes me wish I was a photographer that got flown down to Disney for work!!

"Professional Photography and Recording Equipment

Professional photographers with professional cameras or recording equipment, who are visiting Walt Disney World Resort with the intent to take photographs or recordings of people, Walt Disney World Resort properties or icons for professional purposes must make prior arrangements with Walt Disney World Resort Media Relations. "

We hired a pro to take photos at our resort, and they turned out lovely. She does not do in park photos, although she did take secret long distance shots of a client proposing, which he gave to his bride on their wedding day! I thought that was cool. It was near the castle, so I guess she made an exception, since it was a slightly different situation, and it probably wasn't obvious what she was doing.

We aren't really rule breakers ourselves, but I think our photographer would do park photos, but didn't feel like she could get away with it. She felt like she would quickly be recognized, after a few sessions. I know she took engagement photos of her best friend in the parks, but didn't charge her.

Disney definitely does not allow outside professional photographers to take pictures inside the parks. If you're looking for better quality than what photopass offers, you should contact Disney Fine Art Photography.

They do now. The rule was changed this past year. I know this because we got married at Disney Dec 2012... And since then they have changed the rule. The only thing is they can't go into blocked off areas.

Disney professional photography is very unreliable regarding the quality. Some of their photographers are great (Amy, Cricket, Cassie, and Ty) and some are not... They won't guarantee you one but you can request.

Btw... Randy Chapman is EXCELLENT!!! He has his own company and is not under Disney photography but Disney recommends him if using outside photography. We used him for our wedding but he also does family shoots inside the park or at a resort. Plus he has AP to Disney so you wouldn't have to buy him a ticket.

So they do allow it, you just have to make prior arrangements. Good to know.

The change is supposedly only for weddings, and you still have to provide Disney with the Photographer's name and contact information.

I have seen many family sessions in the park with outside photographers as well.
