Anyone here work for sprint?

I used to and my brother still does. I may be able to help.

You might want to mention general subject matter. Sprint is a huge place. I used to work there but I certainly couldn't have given customer advice. Back when I worked there (left in 2004) I worked in Long Distance which was a completely separate company than PCS. Even within LD I was in IT on the network so I knew nothing of billing or service. If this is what you're question relates to then I can probably still answer some questions despite how much time has passed but I'm suspecting that's not what you need.

I really am trying to see if anyone can answer a question about adding a different phone to my plan (smart phone) without changing my whole plan.

I currently have a non-smart phone with data (which was added for free to my phone only) but I was told I only have 2G. I am not sure this is true anymore as there is no 2G and my phone seems to get online much faster.

I want to change out my phone to a smartphone but have met with sales people who seem to imply that I can't even get a smartphone without changing my entire plan out, which I don't want to do.

I am not talking about getting a discount either, I am talking about purchasing a phone outright and using it.

I want to know why this is or if the info I am getting is incorrect.
