Anyone Here Work for a Hotel Assigning Rooms?

we were well staffed and preferred to be in every room every day pre covid. Occupancy plummeted and the goal became to limit contact so cleaning occupied rooms were cut. I can't remember our exact parameter's. Because occupancy was so low I think we got into the habit of leaving checked out rooms a day or two before they were cleaned.
Does your hotel include a hot breakfast? That was an issue during the pandemic. I stayed at a Holiday Inn express and during the pandemic, the breakfast area was closed off, you told an employee what you wanted and they served it. They cut back to like a Jimmy Dean like breakfast sandwich, bagels, and breakfast burritos. They are back to normal now with the self service scrambled eggs, breakfast meat, pancakes, cereal, etc.
I was surprise last week the small niche hotel we stayed at had what is basically a step up from a continental breakfast. Sausage and ham breakfast sandwiches that you took back to your room and microwaved and hard boiled eggs. Nothing hot. But the Super 8 I stayed at in Illinois had fresh biscuits and gravy, make your own waffles, juice and cereal. I didn't expect that at a Motel.

I'd love a room by the elevator lol, we always get the opposite. We request something close to the elevators but always get the last room in the longest hallway. It got to the point that we said we were lucky when our first room on our last split stay was the second to last room in the hallway 🤣

we had a full service restaurant. Breakfast was available but not included in most rates. However the restaurant was closed per state guidelines early in April, I think.

DH travels a lot for work so we have lifetime diamond with Hilton (thanks for the ear buds!) and they have been accommodating with our requests away from elevator from day one blue card members. Their app is also the best for letting you pick your room 24 in advance.

Lifetime titanium at Marriott and they’re about 50/50. The upgrades are good but you sometimes give things up for “better” rooms. I don’t even bother doing online check-in with them as it’s pointless.
Same. Profile says "high floor away from elevator" and if we don't pick our room (we usually do) then that is what we get. Love it!
