I had them done also, around 1993. And like someone else said, the makeup was just caked on.

Glamour Shots are still open in some areas. There is one in a mall here. They still dress you up and stuff, but more subdued.

Yes, MUCH classier now. So nice, I even thought about getting my girls done. They even have black and whites.
But yes, I had mine done in the summer of 91. I just graduated from hs and me and my bff made this big trip to go get ours down. I have one left, if I knew how to scan, I would. Maybe. lol

I remember those!!!! I have mine still...my girlfriend & I went and had them done. DH hated them because he said I looked like someone completely different.

My mom was always bugging me to have pictures taken so she could hang one up....well I went to Glamour Shots and had one done, put it in a frame and wrapped it up and gave it to her at Christmas....she opened it up, said, oh nice a frame.....then went on saying what picture she could put in there....I had to say....ummm...mom...that is not a stock picture in there that comes with the frame- its me. She thought it was just one of those pictures that come in the frame LOL....she said it didn't look anything like me!

God, I think this thread and those pictures are hysterical. You could almost make a coffee table book out of those pictures.

I never had one done, although, sadly, some of my wedding pictures from 1990 look a little like that. I had my make-up professionally done and it was so caked on and so 1990.

On the note of a business side, I used to know of a group of folks (make-up, hair and photographers) who did a side business on the weekends.

They sold to dance lines and cheer leading groups as a fundraiser. Basically, they gave each girl 10 coupons to sell for $10 a piece. The coupon gave you the appoinment for the "glamour shot" make-up, hair and photo session and 1 8X10 photo. You had to call the number on the coupon to make your appointment. The cheer squad or dance line got to keep the entire $10 for each coupon sold.

For every 10 coupons each girl sold, she got X number of photos or X package so the girls really sold the heck out of those coupons to get their own packages of photos free.

This was at least 10 years ago, so I'd think you could charge more then $10 for the coupons. The main thing was to get people in taking the photos which then sold themselves. I seem to remember that the crew doing this were really gifted, as the photos I saw were much better than Glamour Shots. (They were professional photographers and professional make-up artists making ends meet with side work, after all.)

I always thought it was a great way to pitch the photos and get a ton of people in to take these kinds of photos in a short amount of time.
