Anyone here read "The Nanny Diaries"?

Well, my poor sister is living it. She has nannied for these folks for almost 2 years and it has progressively gotten worse to the point that she must leave. They are just like Mr. and Mrs. X!

Her heart is breaking for the kids since she's been so close to them but she feels she can't continue because of the parents. The worst thing is while it will take her a long time to get over it, she will be replaced immediately with someone else. Why, why, why do some people reproduce?????

Any advice or suggestions for her?

I don't have any suggestions, just hugs. That book was something else! I have a friend who nannied in NYC for a few years and she said that the book was so true. She had to teach her "charges" how to say please and thank you at the ages or 6 and 8! That is crazy! At her other nanny jog, she and the kids had their own "wing" in the mansion. YIKES! I agree that some people just don't deserve the priviledge of having kids. Good luck to your sister.

I swear it was written about a former boss of mine.

She treated her nanny like a second class citizen, it was pretty sad.

I've had wealthy clients over the years that were exactly like Mr. and Mrs. X. It would be funny if the kids weren't completely screwed up by it.

No words of advice for your sister though. I'm not sure what one can do it a situation like that. I know I couldn't handle it, I'd want to take the kid home with me and give him/her some sort of normalcy in their lives!

I really liked that book and cried like a baby at the end. I felt for her...that was so sad!!!

I would just let your sister know that while she was there she made the lives of those little ones a much happier time. They were lucky to have her in their lives, change is hard.
