I "think" that makes sense!! So, more or less you would be paying 2 dollars for a ticket instead of the usual 1 dollar (for one set of numbers)

Right, Lisa. You pay $2 for one set of numbers and if you win anything (except the top prize) you get to "megaply" it.

You know, maybe this is just a Texas thing. I just checked the main Mega Millions website and I don't see anything about the "megaplier" there. But we do have it here in Texas. You'd think it would be the same for every state participating but maybe not.

DH just brought me his instruction pamphlet titled "Texas Lottery Mega Millions featuring Megaplier". It says:

Megaplier
If you want to play, mark the "YES" box under "Megaplier". The Megaplier number will be drawn before each Mega Millions drawing and depending upon the number drawn, your non-grand/jackpot prize winnings will increase by 2, 3 or 4 times. The Megaplier is an additional $1 per play board.

If the one number you match is the mega ball it is a $2 winner. One number plus the mega ball is a $3 winner.

This is the best payout schedule I've found online. If your state doesn't have the megaplier (I'm still unsure if that is just something they do in Texas) then ignore that part of the schedule.
