Anyone here from South Carolina?

Wow, I just saw the great hotels show on the Travel Channel and Samantha was at a hotel and spa in a place called Defusky Island. What a beautiful spot!

Anyone heard of this place or know what the name of the hotel is? I didn't hear the name of it mentioned once and I watched almost the entire 30 minutes.

I've never been to Daufuskie Island but my mom and sister spent a week one summer. The travel channel may have some info. on their web site.

There is a light house on the island that they say is haunted and your family can rent it by the night. My sister's kids got a big kick out of it, but sadly they didn't encounter any ghosts.

My mom said the crab cakes at the resort were the best she has ever eaten.

Sorry I don't know the name of the hotel.

I've never been - but it looks beautiful. It's near Hilton Head....

It's right off Hilton Head. I'd like to stay there some time, but we haven't yet. If you've ever read the book "The Water is Wide" by Pat Conroy, it's a true story that took place on that island. It used to be populated by African-Americans. I think that they were oyster fishermen, but then the pollution got too bad to eat the oysters in the area. Anyway, it changed from an area of absolute poverty to an area that few of us can even afford to visit in just a few decades.

We stay in Hilton Head and Dafuskie is just across the water. It's beautiful, serene and very exclusive. We've gone there by boat many times, but could not afford to stay there. The tour guides love to tell Ghost stories about the island. We've never seen any.
