Hmmm, we have a picture of my cousin holding the torch when it was here in Los Angeles, on the way to the 1984 Olympics. I don't remember if they ran with it or not, though. Maybe the runner just handed it to him for a picture.
My "Aunt-In-Law" (is there such a thing?) who I absolutely adore is in the armed services and was nominated to carry the torch by one of her superiors. She carried it/ran with it prior to the Salt Lake City games. We were all so proud of her!
It came through our old town during the last Olympics in the US so I know several people that carried it then. They picked a representative group of the community to carry it for the few miles it would snake through our town. It was pretty cool.
One of my athletes carried it this summer as it winds it's way to China for the 2007 Special Olympic World Games. Only 7 days until we leave for the games!!
