If so, I am looking for a X-Plan Pin to buy a new Edge. Thanks in advance. I really appreciate it.

I can't find a smily with it's mouth dropped open to express myself. Why would a person work for Ford and give out the discount to a stranger?

How bout this one  ? The smileys really are lacking sometimes.:confused3 :)

Calm down, people. I read on the Edge Forums that there is a pin you can give to friends. There are different types of discounts. I didn't know it was such a big deal. There is a whole discussion board devoted to it. I assumed it was similar to GM's friends and family plan.

Ford plans are tied to social security numbers so I can't help you with a discount. I can tell you that my DD has an Edge and loves it!

On the Ford discussion boards, they say you only need to give the person your name, address, and the last 4 digits of your Social Security number- not the Ford employess SS number. Each employee can give a certain number of these certificates out each year. The employee doesn't not have to give you ("the friend or neighbor") any information about themselves.

And, thanks for the feedback on the Edge. They look great.

At least you're upfront about wanting to use an employee just for the discount... it would be worse if you pretended to befriend a Ford employee just for the friends and family pin discount.

:rotfl:

Actually I was under the impression Ford wanted their employees to give this discount to friends. It is used as a marketing tool to help them sell cars. And the discount is only slightly around invoice, so at best it is worth a few hundred dollars.

I read an employee post on the Ford discussion boards where Ford said if each employee got a friend to buy a new car every year their sales would increase by hundreds of thousands a year. I think they encourage their employees to do this.

Thank you for taking the time to research it. A lot of times on these boards, people post nasty replies without even checking anything out.

Sometimes it hard to believe people would ask for a friends and family discount with they don't even know you.

Don't you think that ford employees have friends and family they would give these to, before a stranger on the internet.

A total stranger on the Budget Boards gave me a Gap discount code last week. Sure, it didn't save me thousands that a car discount could, but it did save me almost $50.

Doesn't hurt to ask.

I've seen Ford employees on these boards offer the codes to people who asked - if you (or a family member/friend) aren't looking for a new Ford product, then the code is useless to you, anyway.

The x pricing plan is actually offered to quite a few people - I remember a co-worker of mine bought several cars with the plan, her daughter worked for a finance company, which was a subsidiary of Ford. Transamerica, I think it was.

It saves a large amount of $$ - and the haggling you would have to do without it. Makes the car buying process much less painless, IMO!

Good luck with the Edge - I think they're great cars!

I would certainly never expect someone to do something for me that wasn't legal or ethical. Or something that could benefit a real friend or neighbor before me. I was under the impression that Ford encourages their employees to give out these discounts to sell more cars. And I think the employee gets some kind of credit for doing this.

Since I am a long time member of these boards, I have found most of the members to be very helpful.

My grandfather is retired and gets both X-plan and Z-plan discounts. I think we (his family) get Z-plans and the X-plans he can give away, but he doesn't understand that he can give them to anyone unfortunately.

Best of luck to you!

Yes, Ford has multiple discount plans (X Plan, Z Plan, etc). Many are tied to your employer - my employer is eligible for the X Plan, which we used in purchase our 08 Escape a few months ago.

Check with your company HR department if you are with a larger company - you might already be eligible and not know it.

A wonderful Disboard person already volunteered to get one for me. The Dis boards come through again. :cool1:
