Anyone heard of First Investors?

My husband and I have never invested in anything and of course the guy from First Investors that came and spoke to us made it sound like it was a really good thing to do. Has anyone ever had any involvement with First Investors and if so any info you could give me about it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

If it deals with variable rate annuities run away. Everything I have seen on it is that the salespeople work strictly on commission..

The First Investors I have heard of is a life insurance company. They offer whole and variable life policies. Some people like those types of policies, some don't. They push the investment aspect of it, but I have read that if you want insurance, get insurance. If you want to invest, then invest. The company has been in business for a long time and is reputable. But premiums are much higher than a comparable term life policy.

I have dealt with them in the past and regret it. They make a lot of commision off you and you get little return for your money. If you're looking to make a long term investment look at vanguard or another company that has low investor costs. If you're looking for life insurance look for low cost term policies.
