I just got back from my dentists where I had a consult for a zoom tooth whitening procedure.

Cost is $550 for treatment, includes mouth trays with 1 year of "touch up" gel.

I'm a HUGE coffee drinker, almost 40, so my pearly whites aren't that sparkling anymore. My friend had it done & was so happy with the results....I will say that i am afraid of the whole procedure, so please anyone who has had it done let me know the good, bad & UGLY......

I asked my Dr for a valium script which he happily gave me b/c I am very anxious when it comes to the dentist...Just the smell alone of the dentist office can make me tense up ( bad exp. when I was younger w/ a dentist from hell & basically NO pain med, but this was back in the early 80's...)

So, anyone out there happy with their zoom results? Was it a rip-off? Pain torture for 2 hrs? HELP!!

I've had it done. My brother is a dentist (but I paid him full price since I took up a chair and 3 hours of his time).

I am so chicken, that I was only able to sit through 25 minutes of it. He does it in 15 minute increments, allows 10 minutes rest. You raise your hand if you can't handle the sensitivity anymore.

The 1st 15 minutes were a breeze. Easy peezy. They slathered my gums really well, no pain with the clamping, etc.

The 2nd 15 minutes---well yea. 7 minutes in my eyes were watering and my teeth felt SOFT. And I already use Sensodyne on a regular (for years) basis. 10 minutes in I was flailing my hands around :rotfl: I tapped out. No more for me.

I was pretty happy w/the results (a definite confidence booster), but he would have liked me to have finished the 2nd session at least. I have a cousin who actually did 4 entire 15 minute sessions. She couldn't eat for 2 days after that, but she said it was worth her vanity. :wizard:

I will say--since you're scared of dentists. It is a little bit claustrophobic, especially when the pain starts. You feel like you can't get out. But the results are fun.

Personally, I think $550 is too much. My brother practices in a middle-income neighborhood and he only charges $300 or so, trays included (I didn't take them). I guess pricing depends on where you live, but I live in CA where everything is expensive so I"m not sure $550 is a good price...

I did ZOOM a couple of years ago. It hurts the longer the procedure goes. I *almost* made it to the very end. I kept getting these "zingers" that would come and go at any random moment during the procedure.

I had some immediate noticeable results, but I would say they didn't last longer than a few months.

I did the touch up gel with the trays, and I continue to do so. I actually just did it on my way to work this morning. The touch up gel was $55 for 3 small tubes.

The procedure was very simple, and I wouldn't work up any anxiety over it at all (and this is coming from someone who has high anxiety with any medical procedure).

I'm having a cavity filled on Wednesday and I already have anxiety over it! And I've had many cavities filled over the years!

You"ll do just fine. Just be prepared for those flash zingers that come and go randomly throughout. My dentist said they are switching to something other than Zoom now. He said the results are much better. I wish I could remember the name of it for you.

EDIT: I also think $550 is a bit high. Mine was $300.

Go to the Dollar Tree. Go to the toothpaste aisle. Pick up the teeth whitening system. Do it everyday until the tube is gone.

You will be blown out of the water by how WHITE your teeth get:teeth:

$1.

That's all you need. $1. Well, tax too:rotfl:

Are you a Dentist.:lmao: Not sure you should be giving that advice.

wow! those reviews for the $1 are pretty much all amazing!

I'm going to go to my local $tree & see if they have it!

Talking w/ my husband last night I told him I was scared to do zoom. I read lots of reviews online last night & most, if not all, were not good as far as pain & discomfort go. I do have sensitive teeth.

Thanks for this info!

People ask me where I go to get my teeth whitened all the time:rotfl: And when I answer: "The Dollar Tree", they can't believe it:thumbsup2

It really does work. You may not even need to use the entire tube. I saw results within 4 days.

Again, for $1. Insane.

They didn't have this at our dollar tree but they did have some kind of pen kind. I bought it to see what happens.

It's funny because I had the trays made years ago and I have misplaced them in a move. I loved it when I did it though but my teeth were super sensitive.
