I was just wondering if anyone has VB as home resort. Wanted to know their thoughts on it. This is another consideration and then add on a WDW resort at a later date.

I know that it is critical to make your home resort where you will be staying most of the time. We know we love VB and have not seen enough of the DVC's on property.

We LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Vero Beach. We first bought at OKW and after doing two OKW/Vero trips added on enough points there so we can enjoy split trips. After doing Hilton Head.....had to buy there so we could get in during the summer. We have found the older we and our daughter get the less interested *GASP* we are in the parks and the more we like to relax at OKW/Vero/Hilton Head. There are wonderful cast members at all three resorts.

Buying where you want to stay is more important at "offsite" DVC resorts than onsite.

We have done essentially the same thing. We originally purchased at SSR and stayed at Vero for a couple of days. Once there, we knew we had to have points as we wanted longer stays. We now are able to stay at SSR for a week, then go to Vero to wind down.

Vero is a great resort, I agree.

The most important thing you want to consider is one, the need to book longer than 7 months out if Vero is not your home resort.

The reason I say this is that Vero has the highest annual fees because you have to maintain the beachfront. If you are not worried about booking a stay more than 7 months in advance, I would recommend buying points in another resort.

Additionally you have to consider that Vero's DVC expiration is 2042, whereas newer resorts such as SSR, AKL and BLT expire in 2054 and 2057 respectively, making the true cost of Vero that much more.

From expereince, we have booked Labor Day weekend for the past two years in a Garden Inn Room with no problems.

Good luck with your decision

Can anyone give a rough estimate on how much dues would run for Vero on 100 points per year? I am just trying to compare to my other 2 home resorts.

I am thinking that VB would be a great add on. I think the best part is booking during early/springbreak seasons without issues. We will have 5 so a 1 BDRM will be key.

I am just curious though, If you own 2 properties, like OKW and VB, do you combine those points when booking or do you have to trade from one to the other?

You could combine the points at the 7 month booking window. Say you buy a 100 point add on at Vero. You call at 11 months to book a one bedroom that would require 150 points. Those points at 11 months must come from your Vero contract so you'd have to borrow against the following years points. You wouldn't be able to use another contracts points until the 7 month window. Hope that makes sense. Its early and I am waiting for coffee to brew. :)

Dues would be at least $600 per year, I don't remember the exact cost per point but it is over $6. We have 125 points there but end up using them at WDW most years. I love Vero but we only visit every two or three years, so for us buying points there probably wasn't the best decision. That being said, we adore Vero!

Vero used to be one of my home resorts, until I sold those points in order to buy AKV points when they first went on sale. I found I was rarely going to Vero so it made no sense to own points there and pay the higher dues. It really makes alot sense to own where you want to stay in order to have the 11 month booking window. Unless of course, you want most of your trips to be at OKW or Saratoga! But, if you want to stay there buy where the dues are lowest, not highest. Buy Vero points if you want to take alot of trips to Vero during peak seasons or you want mostly beach cottages at Vero.
