Anyone have and use the Canon BG-E2 battery grip? I am considering getting one for my 30D but have a question. I know you can use either one or two batteries but can you mix battery types? I can't seem to locate a manual online for this iterm. I have my BP-511 from my Digital Rebel and the BP-511A from the 30D but don't know if I should mix the two in one camera. The voltages are the same (7.4V) but the capacities are different and don't know if this is addressed in any paperwork that comes with the BG-E2.
Thanks in advance!
Randy
I couldn't find your answer, but did find this...
The Canon Battery Grip BG-E2 adds a vertical shutter release, and is compatible with up to two BP-511, BP-511A, BP-512, BP-514 Lithium-ion battery packs, or six AA batteries with included battery holder BMG-E2. Made just for the EOS 20-D Digital SLR, the Battery Grip BG-E2 holds up to 2 Battery Packs or 6 AA Batteries to offer double-length shooting time.
if the batteries are the same except for capacity, would that really be any different than using 2 of the same batteries with different amount of charge left in them..??
but on the other side of the thought process...
I just got the vertical grip for my Minolta 7d, and decided to keep my batteries matched up, I have 2 that are minolta origianls and 2 after market, I, decided not to mix them.
where's Kelly our Canon guru.....
