Anyone have trouble with guests coming and going?

When we go, we have lots of our Florida friends come and go, spending one or two nights with us.

We never go over occupancy, and we just have the new people check in. Is this still a problem with the new system??

As long as you don't have the dining plan I don't think you'll have an issue.

When you say the new people "check in"...do you mean officially at the resort desk and get keys, etc. Just curious, last year, we had 4 in a studio with two of them leaving a night or two earlier than the others and I wanted one person to fly in early for the last night there before switching over to the next resort. MS told me that I could not do that...that even though the number actually remaining in the room was still within limits; they said all persons' names must be on the reservation. (and of course, we could not do 5 in a studio, which I knew). And, we were not on any dining plan.

If I am understanding Dean, then it would have been okay with the resort for that person to come stay when the other two left a day or two early. Do I just not list that person with MS. If so, then he could not use Magic Express, right??

yes, this is exactly what I'm talking about. Why wouldn't they give you a new key if they others checked out?

I've routinely done this in the past. Had guests check out, and new guests arrive.

I'm not sure how that will work with ME. Talk to ME or MS to see what your options are.

Our folks are all Floridians, so ME shouldn't be an issue. Wonder if that will make a difference?

I'd just go the front desk and let them know that some of your guests are leaving and will be replaced by others. They should be able to remove the names of those leaving and add those arriving.

I agree, and when we know we have a changeover of guests happening, we have actually been able to book it that way with some people leaving before we check out and others coming.

I've taken the keys for the guests leaving to the front desk and they made new ones for the incoming people. We don't do DDP so that has never been a problem.

This upcoming trip, similar to what we did last year, we have 3 kids coming the first couple of days, then they go home with grandparents so we can have adult/couple time with some of our childless friends who will be then checking in. When I asked Member Services about how to list the names, and told them that the 4/5/6 year olds really don't need keys, they said to just list the adults and have our friends who are coming in a few days later pick up their keys then. So it works, and in some cases they don't even want the extra names as long as they know you're under your allowed # of guests.

I am assuming this is another place where segmenting a resertavion would be helpful (once all the bugs are worked out).

yes, this is what we normally do, but I read one report of someone being able to do that with the new, "improved" system.

And if you want to take advantage of EMHs with the kids, how do you do that without their KTTW?

We stay at VGC at Disneyland, and usually just the adults show their key card at the gate. Park passes are separate at Disneyland. They don't scan anything at DLR for Magic Mornings; its been 20 years since my last WDW visit so I didn't realize you needed the room key for EMH's. Also no dining plans that even begin to approach being worthwhile at DLR.

I know for evening EMHs you have to show your card at each ride so I'm curious about if we'll need the kids ones too.

Of course you will. Everyone who is three or older will need a KTTW to go on the attractions and take part in EMH.
