Our trip this month we only paid 750.00 for 4 of us to fly. But we booked a cruise and it is school vacation week for New England states and the airfare is so high. It is almost 1700.00:scared1:. We have thought about driving but not sure on that one with a 1 year old and a 4 year old. I may have to cancle and re schedule for something in the fall.

We live a little closer (1000mi) so when we can not get a good fare (less than $600 for 4 of us) we drive. Have you considered driving to another airport for a better deal (if you can find a city served by SW their best fares come out at 100-60 days from departure). We have driven with children and it was really not a big issues if you are "preprared", although since you have a 2 day trip it would be more challenging.

It is always very expensive to fly during New England school vacation weeks. Unfortunately most schools take the same vacation weeks and there are only so many seats on the planes. I don't think driving to a different airport will help much - you'd probably have to drive all the way to NY to find prices that aren't affected.

Do you have any flexibility? Could you go down a day or two earlier to avoid the weekend? That should make the prices drop some.

I could leave as early as late Thrursday evening instead of Staurday. I'm hoping when SW comes out it will be around 350.00 rt per person. That I could handle. I think once SW comes out I will know more than. Just driving 24 hours I don't think I could take it. Yep driving to a diffrent airport is no help still really high. We thought about taking the shuttle to Boston but the fare is no diffrent than Portland. We were suppose to stay at CBR this trip but are staying at pop to save the extra 580.00 to put towards airfare. We went this past April school vacation for 2 weeks and I got airfare on airtran for 1300.00. I guess I'm just playing the waiting game at this point.

I'm in souther NH and always check Manchester, Boston, Portland, Providence, Hartford, and Burlington. We once saved about $1200 by flying out of Hartford.

Rather than drive to FL, have you checked any of the NY airports or PA or NJ. While it would be a bit of a drive, it wouldn't be as bad as driving all the way to FL.

Does it have to be a Florida cruise? Nothing leaves Boston that early, but what about New York or Philadelphia?
