We just return from our trip to the Polynesian 1/29 - 2/3.
It was our first non-concierge stay and I have a question.

Usually when we stay at the Polynesian and you put out the do not disturb sign no one bothers you.

On this trip every morning at 9 AM the maid would phone our room to find out what time we would be leaving the room so she could make it up. Since we were traveling with an elderly person who was ill we usually left the room by 10 AM. We had the do not disturb sign on so she decided to call us. Does anyone else besides me find this intrusive or is it just me?

P.S. Mickey's Philharmagic is Fabulous

Wow.

I don't complain often, but I think I would have called the manager to complain about this.

Another "wow!" from me! I don't think I would have been too happy with this either!

DH & I stayed at the Poly for a week last year & thankfully, never experienced this! We were at the end of our 2-week trip, so this was the 'relaxing' part of our vacation - I don't think we ever left the room before 11 am. As a matter of fact, I don't think we ever even crossed paths with our 'mousekeeper.' I'm really shocked....

Yes it is intrusive. I probably would have said something to the houskeeping manager. :(

Definitely should not have happened, and on the second day while the person calling was the on phone, I would have said, please put your supervisor on the phone as I want these calls to stop immediately.

My reply?

Excuse me, we are not ready to leave the room quite yet, but would you please come down here? I really want to....

Exactly what part of "Do not disturb" did mousekeeping NOT get?? I figure do not disturb means...don't come into my room, do not knock on my door, do not call my room, do not stand on the path below and throw pebbles at my slider, whatever!!!!!

I went to the front desk when leaving and asked for a reponse card so I could note it on the card. All they have is a card with an email address on it. So I emailed them when I returned but I haven't heard anything yet. I would have loved to send a letter but I didn't get an address.

Hi Lyn :wave2:

What building did you stay in?? We'll be staying at the Polynesian after our cruise this summer. How do you like this resort other than those annoying phone calls??? We've booked a lagoon view room and requested Tuvalu. Have you ever stayed in that building??

SeaSpray:

Hi cruise mate! We were in the Tuvalu building. I can't say the building is bad we had garden view and we were on the second floor right over the door to the building so our view was of the entrance to the building next to us. I requested Samoa when booking and even faxed ahead and couldn't get that. When we arrived and found out we didn't get Samoa I requested the building next to the docks which is Figi I think but I am not sure, and we could get that either. The building they wanted to put us in originally was Tahiti which would have been fine with me since I was in that building over the summer while concierge was under construction, but with a wheel chair it was a little to far for us.

This is what I get for trying to save money and not going Concierge.
