I am contemplating ordering this, the Ultimate Slice & Grate, from Pampered Chef. My reservation is that it’s “just a slicer and grater” and it’s $45.00. Does anyone have it? I’d love to get a few reviews on it. Hear whether or not it’s really worth it. I’m always and forever slicing and grating and haven’t found a grater that I truly love.

Anyone?

I love it. I had wanted a much more expensive mandoline but this one does a great job for what I need. It's not extra fancy -- has 3 blades to choose from -- but you can pretty much cover the basics with it.

It's sharp, very very very very very very sharp (says the idiot who sliced off the tip of her finger).

Pampered Chef Consultant chiming in here...

Yes, the blades are sharp. Always, always, always, use the blade guard. I was a stupid and sliced lemons without the blade guard and cut myself as well. Just as with any sharp tool, you use it carefully.

That being said, I do use it fairly often, and use all 4 blades about the same. I probably use the Julienne Blade the least amount.

I have 3 friends who love, love, love this tool. It is awesome for getting really thin slices. I've tried it at their houses and it's really easy to use. The only reason I don't own one is because I don't want to pay the full price.

But as other people have mentioned, all 3 of my friends have cut their fingers because they didn't use the guard. Don't use it without the guard!!

I haven't seen or bought any Pamper Chef products in a long time because I never had any luck with them. Everything I bought either didn't work right or broke. The only things I really like and use a lot of is the stones I bought.

I'm a huge Pampered Chef fan! My dh's an even bigger fan. Every time I go to a party he sends me with a list of things to get! Personally, I prefer my food processor that grates and slices anything in less than 10 seconds. But for small/medium jobs, my dh loves, loves, loves the grater/slicer. It's a bit pricey, but it's good quality. I've only had one bad experience with a product I bought from PC, and my consultant replaced it for me without a problem.

love this item! It's especially great for slicing potatoes for scalloped or au gratin potatoes, but (as most of the other posters have already mentioned) BE SURE TO USE THE GUARD!! My friend bought it first and cut her finger, then me, then my SIL, then my DH. We all warned each other before hand, but apparently, we needed to find out on our own. Boy did that hurt!!

I don't ever use mine anymore. I can't bring myself to after the finger incident. The part I cut off has never really grown back right....

I would much rather have the combination of the food chopper, cheese grater, and the hold and slice.

Former PC consultant but still a big fan and yes we love our Ultimate Slice and Grate but you do have to be careful with it. One of the good things about the PC version as opposed to a mandolin is that it all comes apart easily and goes into the dishwasher. You must be careful when drying the blades. That is how I cut my finger, through 4 thicknesses of a towel! One of the things we use it for the most is to shave corn from the cob. We boil the corn then use the US&G to shave the corn from the cob to freeze. It makes is so easy to enjoy fresh corn throughout the year. Also love it for slicing tomatoes and onions.

If you don't want to pay full price host a show and get it for 1/2 price or better yet accrue enough points and get it for free!

Here's another one missing part of a finger. Slicing a cucumber - it wouldn't stay on the guard, so brilliant me thought I could slice it faster without the guard. Yep, got a shiny flat spot on the side of my thumb!! I didn't think it would ever quit bleeding.

I didn't use it much after then and ended up selling it on eBay. Honestly, I don't miss it. And I LOVE Pampered Chef products - I've got a ton of them. I just got tired of having to be so extremely careful with it.

Another cut finger here! They don't call it the Ultimate Slice and Grate for nothing!
