I was thinking of applying for one to earn plane tickes for trips to Disney.
Any info would be great? Is it worth it ? What do you pay with yours to earn maximum points?

Thanks !!

Yep. I posted something recently about this on a similar thread, I think in the transportation board. You might want to look there as well for more information.

We have the Delta Skymiles AmEx card and charge everything possible to it: groceries, gasoline, dining out, airline tickets, rental cars, Walmart binges, etc. We are trying to figure out how to charge our mortgage payment to it. ;)

We pay it off at the end of the month so the only cost is the annual fee. There are lots of bonus mile opportunities. Keep an eye on the Delta website under specials, Skymiles specials.

We used the miles for 2 tickets to California (from Tennessee) this summer.

I had one a while ago and loved it. They offered a considerable amount of bonus miles to join and then you paid the annual fee, which in my opinion was worth it. They do have promotions to earn extra miles. Customer service was excellent.

The reason why I don't have it anymore is because we have enough miles for a free ticket and want to go with another card to get the bonus miles and are halfway to a free ticket with another airline otherwise we would have kept it.

Several of us have posted our experiences with this wonderful card on recent threads.
We are flying to Disney at the end of the year for free, three tickets on rewards! And one of them was earned through offers during the first year alone...

Love love love AMEX

I have a Delta card & Amex card. One thing about the Delta card, you can only fly Delta Airlines. With AMEX, you can link to other frequent flyer accounts. Delta wants 25000 points for a free ticket with restrictions. Southwest only wants 20000 for a ticket and there are no restrictions. If there is a seat on the flight, you can use the points.

We got one right before our Disney trip last year. 1st year free and opportunity for 20,000 bonus miles(10,000 for one card, 2,500 for 2nd card and 7,500 bonus if we put 7,500 on it in the first 6 months) on top of the miles for our purchases, which are often double. Just put my Delta tickets to Europe for this summer on the card and that will be big bucks doubled. Currently deciding whether to pay the annual fee and keep the card. We have racked up enough point for another ticket to Hawaii so far (If we can ever redeem the miles with Delta - another issue.) I like it, but as a rule, I refuse to pay annual fees. If I do it, this will be a first ever. Oh, and you must also remember to pay the balance in full each month, or it is also not worth it. If you carry balances, you need to seek out a low rate card.

I use the Platinum card, I pay more $135/year, but this is what I get:

A buy one get one free ticket
10,000 Bonus miles for signing up
Double miles up the wazzoo
Excellent customer service
10,000 bonus miles if you charge $25,000 in one year. (did it)

I buy everything on Amex like others. Pay it off at the end of the month.

We flew down to our cruise last year (4 people from New York) for free!

Well worth the annual fee in my opinion.

Also, Southwest is great, we fly them too, but I rack up more double points with Delta Amex. Not sure Southwest offers the double option at all.

So, I can get to 25,000 point alot quicker for alot less money.

We also have the Delta Amex, and flew to CA last Aug. for $10 each. (The cost of the 9/11 tax)
They're running a promo starting on Saturday for double miles at restaurants. They also have a Delta Dining program with local restaurants (good with any registered card). If you have a Delta SkyMiles account, register a charge card with Delta Dining, and I think we earn 10 miles per dollar on that program.

And, if you haven't paid your federal taxes yet (if you owe), I think they're doing double miles for that too!!

It's definitely worth it for us......
