I did a search for find how I can do a chat with t mobile since I got a message the amount for our bill and when it is due like we always do hower it was almost 8$ more
there were a few listings that came up--one thing that came up was that t mobile was upgrading certain plans and you had to call to get out of it
can places really just change your plans with out your ok or consent to do so

so confused Im not a fan of dealing with cell phone companies--

Can't help you with a chat contact. But a couple of points...
1) If you can't find a phone number/chat link, go into a T-mobile store and talk to someone. Hopefully they can explain where the added charge is.
2) As far as changing the amount charged, it depends on what's written into the contract, assuming you're still under a contract. If you're not under a contract, then yes, they can change your billing. Of course, you're free to leave them.

Yeah from what I understand you have to opt out. https://9to5mac.com/2023/10/13/t-mobile-unlimited-opt-out/

I have not had T-Mobile for years - I had been a customer for a very long time going back to when they were omnipoint and then voicestream.
Honestly you may want to check out googlefi.

I used to have t-mobile and google fi has been far cheaper for me - a lot depends on how many lines you have - its a much better deal with multiple lines.

Oh and for the most part googlefi uses the t-mobile network so its the same service you already had just from google.

I left T-Mobile for that reason. I don't use my phone for flat out streaming at all. I only use Talk and text. I know I'm weird using a telephone to talk to people, but I'm old, so I still do. I also text a lot, but I do not have any streaming apps on my phone at all. Between Waze and Progressive, someone always knows were I am or at least where my phone is located.

I switched to Consumer Cellular. They allowed me to do my thing with the same area coverage except that I don't have to pay for a streaming service that I don't use. For $40 a month less than T-Mobile was costing me.

Officially you should not call to opt out until after you are notified on October 17th that your account is one that has been flagged to be migrated to a new plan.

People have been calling in already and there is some question as to whether the flag that was set to opt out might have been reset in preparation for the notifications to go out on October 17th making their time on the phone to opt out early, worthless.

There is also talk from the execs at T-Mobile that much like the recent Delta changes which were not well received, that perhaps this change will not go forward as leaked.

So, wait until October 17th and see if you get notified. If you do and want to opt out you will need to call.

If I get notified I plan to call.

The leaked documents also state that there will be some period of time where you can call and get the plan rolled back after you get your first new bill.

T-Mobile is no longer the un-Carrier. This forced account migration is as seedy as it gets and puts them firmly in the company of AT&T and Verizon.

We’ll after Bob hold with chat for half hr I finally got a real person. However for some reason I can’t log into my account the only change we made recently was adding my husband so he can talk to them also since the account is in my name so the agent couldn’t log up my account so I fo have to call anyways on Thst but I asked about the changes and she assured me our account was not flagged to change. But things do change We’ll just wait and see I guess

what started this whole deal with t mobile is we were just on the BI cruise I had checked twice before we left to see what kind of service was included with our plan--I was told it was free text date and 0.25 a minute for calls-
so we get our usual notice about the bill and it was almost 8$ more I looked up on line to see about a chat and all this about upgrading customers with old phone plans were just going to get updated automatically but if you didnt want the upgarde you had to call to opt out
I get on chat today with a great agent--it was funny cause looking in detail on our bill it seemed the person I was charged for texts was my friend who doesnt have an iphone so I thought thats why we were charged but looking again I wasnt charged for texts to my son and he doesnt have an iphone either
anyways back to this agent I told her I took pics of my computer screen with the chats saying what was included and took the charges off our bill

I asked her then about the upgrades and she said shed make sure our account stayed like it is which if theres any questions I took a pic of the screen with her reply she did this

I should have asked what features were going to be included--Im sure we wouldnt use them--like my hubby he was thinking of getting a new phone since his wasnt holding a charge and t mobile told him he needed a new battery--that would cost around 90$ and for the age of the phone it would be better to put the money in a new phone yea better for them--
well we thought of it and thought at the time it made sense so he gets another agent at the store who tries to sell him an upgraded plan including streaming which neither of us have any interest in it or even how it works among other things that we wouldnt use and it would raise our bill by 30$
so he left there and went to batteries plus and for 50$ he got a new battery and his phone works great

all we want our phones for are making calls texts and internet we have a tv for watching shows and a DVD player for when theres nothing on since we dropped cable 3 years ago and dont miss it and should have done it sooner

and believe it or not we still have a VHS tape player with so many great movies to watch and most you cant even get anymore
sorry for rambling but when I get on a roll I just keep going

I'm still unclear what they are changing. Why wouldn't everyone want to opt out of a price increase?

oh no we don’t want anything to change. It’s not just a price increase there’s apparently extras you get but after the sales pitch my DH went though I’m sure we wouldn’t use any of it.

The less you deal with them the better your life will be. Be very careful changing anything. If you do go into a store and get everything in writing.

How the heck much were you paying on T-Mobile? I have t-mobile with unlimited everything and free netflix and it only costs me 70.00 total for 2 lines.

That is very close to what I paid per month for one line. I went to them and asked how I could get a cheaper price and the only way they could was if I bought a new i-Phone, that I didn't even need for only $700.00 and even then they only would drop it by $20.00 per month.

I went to Consumer Cellular and stated for only $19.00 per month (with AARP discount of $1.@ month). And it uses the same grid as T-Mobile.

I had consumer cellular for my 93 year old mom because all she did was text and didn't need out of country calling or streaming anything- when she died I called them to cancel and they would not LOL- they said they couldn't cancel it unless they hear it from her- I explain that she died and I can send death certificate and they said no- they had to hear it from her. I was finally so fed up after 3 calls to them that I said- "fine leave it on, send a bill and you can wait for my dead mother to pay it!" they cancelled it after that LOL.

I have PureTalk, which runs on the AT&T network. It costs $20 per month (it's about $22.25 including taxes) and has unlimited talk and text and 3 GB of data. I live in NY, so the taxes might be different wherever you are.

You need a GSM unlocked phone. You do not have to purchase your phone from PureTalk, but you could if you wanted to. I have a Pixel phone that works fine with the service.

I get billed every month, automatically to a credit card. You can port your old number over. There's no contract. I've been happy with this service for many years. It works fine at WDW and except for areas where there's no cell service at all, I've never had a problem getting service.
