Okay, in the last 18 mon. I have had a broken nose 2 times. First DD broke it when I went to wake her up (total accident) with her elbow and now, my nephew broke it when he head butted me when playing with him (18 mon. total accident too). SIL doesn't know so hope she doesn't read this...
Well, after xrays as pain is worse not better, I find out today if I have to have surgery. I do have a high pain tolerance. I broke it on Friday and waited to go till Mon. Last time it was Thurs. to Mon. before I went in. This makes me nervous as I don't like doctors or hospitals. Can't explain why either. If I do, what is involved? How long is recovery? I won't let it interfere with my DIS trip. First time was a clean break and it popped back into place. This time not so lucky....Thanks for you input as to your experiences.....:sad2:

Sorry don't have an answer for you. I'd love to hear anyone's experiences too.

I have a severely deviated septum (also related to sinus issues, allergies, migraines)
and am finally at a point in life where I'm starting to think about surjury which is probably very similiar to nose break(?).
I've been afraid of recovery period/not being able to breathe through nose (not that I can much now!) and sleep.

Waiting for posts...

I've had mine broken 4 times and re-set twice, so a total of 6 breaks! I was a soccer goal for years, but my DD did one of those breaks as a toddler (when I was trying to get her out of her carseat asleep!) I have a fabulous ENT, and the surgery itself isn't bad. the worst part is going back in a few days to have the post-surgery packing removed. That was bad. They don't sedate you, they just pull it out, so it hurts. I made it about halfway home and vomited everywhere the second time they did it. Bring a bucket, be prepared, and it will be over before you know it! The surgery itself, though- no biggie, and my nose looks better now thean it ever did! :thumbsup2

I have had two surgeries, one to fix a deviated septum and the other to remove scar tissue and polyps. The first surgery went really well and recovery was a breeze. The second I had a reaction to the pain medication and was more sick from that than the surgery. I think if you're careful with the pain medication you'll be fine. Good luck!

The xrays are now going to an ENT specialist.
Should hear today more info. Thanks for your input and thoughts.
