We are currently booked at our home resort for our upcoming March trip, but are considering trying to switch our reservation to the Grand Floridian. Has anyone had any recent experience with booking at the 7 month mark?

We too are thinking about doing that next May. I have been checking the Resort Availability Tool pretty regularly. You might want to do that yourself. It is against the DISboard policy for anyone to tell you the availability. Hopefully someone that has been successful at 7 months will let us know.

Thanks! I was just asking if anyone has had success themselves. I'm sorry if my question implied something else. I'll edit the title of my thread so there is no confusion.

I got a lake view studio last May at 7 months, the week before Memorial Day.

2 nights in a standard view studio for last May. It came from a waitlist. It was wonderful staying there.

5 nights in a dedicated 2 bedroom, standard view, last April. Booked as soon as the non-home resort window opened.

Could not get a 2 bedroom lock-off for the same time - all of the studios were booked already.

I have checked availability periodically, and it seems that the studios are the hardest to book at the 7 month mark. The larger villas require so many points to book - maybe that is why I have seen more availability for them at the 7 month mark.

We'll be trying for a one bedroom. Hopefully that will increase our chances. Thank you for sharing your experience!

We got a VGF Grand Villa at 1.5 months out for this August - the week of the DVC member cruise!!
:thumbsup2

I was able to get a standard 1 bedroom in late Sept. less than 7 mos. out. Then I waitlisted another day which just came thru Tuesday. There's hope!

I've gotten in twice...five days in Feb in a SV studio just after it opened--booked within a day of booking becoming available to non-owners (don't remember the exact time frame, as it was "different" that first opening season)...

Then, this past March, I booked a five-day trip in late June (6/22-6/27) at OKW w/friends and on a whim, in early April, I decided to see if I could get into VGF for the weekend before or after...

There was a one-BR LV open the weekend before and after a brief (very brief--it lasted maybe two nanoseconds) fight w/my conscience over spending 110 points for two nights!), I booked it...then, at the suggestion of the nice CM I was talking to when I called to arrange ME and finalize my friend's studio, I W/L'ed the same two days in a studio--one W/L for a SV and one for a LV...about a month prior to the trip, I got the SV studio...cut the points I needed to spend in half and since there was only one of me, there was really no need for the full one-BR!

The VGF is phenomenal...the CMs call it "the Grand" and so I've taken to calling it that, too...I loved the subsequent five days at OKW, too...but there's just something so very special about the Grand...

Anyway, that's the long way around saying you certainly do have a shot at it...especially if you're willing to W/L, stalk the website, and/or do a split stay--

Good luck and hope you love it as much as I do!

We got a 2 bedroom lake view lock off For June on a Thursday and Friday. I had been stalking the site and two days before what I needed, it came open and I took a chance and walked it and it worked out...my family was so happy, and we needed the lock off cause we had 10 people. We were lucky and got the 6th floor too! So that was at 7 months + 2 days. :cool1:

I'm THRILLED to hear that so many of you have had success getting into VGF at the seven month mark. I hope my luck is just as good. :goodvibes. If we are lucky enough to get a chance to stay at VGF, I'm sure we'll love it!

Our seven-month date is coming up in a couple of weeks. I'll report back afterward!

We were able to book a 1-Bedroom Standard View Room for 7 nights at 7 months out. Booked the minute our window opened and had no trouble! A Lake View was also available at that time but no studios (which is what we originally wanted).

We own at BLT. At 11 mos, we booked our 2-BR just in case. Then at 7 mos, checked online and several 2BRs at BWV and VGF were free.
In 60 seconds, I cancelled BLT and booked VGF. It was effortless. Now
with the availability tool, it's even easier, I expect. It's just a lot more points!

CAN'T WAIT! Waitist came through...2 nights at AKV Jambo, our home, and 2 nights at the Grand! YAY!:thumbsup2:santa:

BEST of luck!!!:thumbsup2:cool1:

Can everyone post the month they were able to book at 7 months. Ie when you are traveling? It will be really helpful for those of us hoping to book here too.
