Anyone have res for Poly concierge mid Sept- mid Oct?

I understand Hawaii will be going through it's renovations during that time frame. From what I am told the date has changed twice already for the renovations but the concierge staff was pretty certain it is going to happen during Sept & Oct. I am inquiring because I am trying to book a stay during this time frame and anyone with a reservation should be getting a call about this.

I'm not sure that any calls would have to be made. When we were in Hawaii last month, I was told that only one floor at a time would be worked on and that the building would remain open. Since it is just cosmetic changes, it's not as if there would be alot of noise.

I know that things change but that was what I was told.

My husband, DS2 and I plan to be at the Polynesian mid-October but so far I just have the BCV part of our stay. When I asked my DH if I should book concierge I didn't time it right. Got him at a cheap moment and he didn't want to spend the extra money. So I'm putting off booking in hopes of catching him at a weaker moment.

Have you tried to book?

I think that makes me feel better. I've got a GV room booked for 10/14 to 10/23. Are they accounting for rooms not be available when they make reservations? Or is it possible that they will book all concierge rooms and then be overbooked when they do rehab? What will happen when they renovate the lounge? Or can they do the lounge "overnight"?

I had been trying to book LVC rooms for that time frame and none are available--for the entire time. Not sure if "one floor at a time" would cause that. It seems like they were simply limiting/cancelling reservations for that whole time or something. I would be very interested to hear if others still have ressies for that time (for LVC) and if they have been called about this. If I had ressies for this timeframe already I would be calling them about this.
So bummed out, we really really wanted to go at that time.

Wish I knew the answers to your questions but all I know is what I was told by a CM...that one floor would be done at a time. I think it is encouraging that you already have a reservation. We were in Hawaii last October and some of the golfers from the Funai Classic were staying there. Perhaps some rooms are blocked for them.

I don't know that the lounge will be refurbished at all??? It was redone just a couple of years ago along with the entire building. I thought this was just a change in room decor.

Well, your info is certainly more recent than mine. We were there the week before you. The dates changed once while we were there and again by the time you were there.

But now I'm confused by your first post. If you know it will be closed, are you still trying to book?

Thanks for posting that, tone.def. If the Polynesian is sending out emails about it, it sounds pretty definitive doesn't it? The dates are also a shorter time frame.

Now, if I can convince my husband. He was weakening yesterday! Our dates are after the 10th also.

We have ressies for POLY LVC for 10/16 - 10/23 so naturally I've been feeling nervous about all this rehab stuff. I sent an email to the POLY last Tuesday and here is the response that I received:

"At this time we are unable to give specific dates for the refurbishment as the dates are changing on a daily basis. As of right now, rehab is scheduled for the end of September into the first week of October, however this is subject to change at any moment.
I can assure you however that the concierge service will remain the same.
I hope this information has been helpful and please let us know how we can assist you further."

Not very much help. My understanding is that Hawaii is the only building with lagoon views so if the close down the whole building then we wouldn't get that view, which is kind of a deal breaker for my husband.

No hon! Tahiti and Tuvulo do as well. They're not concierge though...

tone.def-thanks for the very hopeful info! Sounds like I stand a good chance of a brand new room. Seems like Disney would have experience to know how long a rehab takes so I would think they stick to their schedule pretty well. I plan on contacting IPO soon and I'll post what they tell me.

From what I've read the LV rooms at Tahiti are the BEST! And there is no path in front of Tahiti so they are nice and private and they have 2 sinks and balconies on the 2nd floor and it is very convenient to TTC. BUT concierge is the deal breaker with my DH.

I posted to see if there were people who had gotten reservations for my time frame. The info from Disney is very vague and things change daily. Please post if someone finds out new info. I changed my reservations to the GF in case Hawaii is down.

Its me, DH, DD(6), DS(4 1/2), DD(2 1/2) and an adult friend. I am very nervous about the rehab but am hopeful that tone.def's info is correct-wouldn't a brand new room be great! I would think they'd be very careful about over OR under selling concierge rooms. I actually haven't contacted IPO yet about any plans. Maybe I'll do that next week. Since this is more "cosmetic" I would think that things should go along pretty much as planned. I really don't know what to do. I just LOVE the Poly and can't imagine our crew traveling without the convenience of concierge. I don't want to pay the Grand Floridian's price for main building concierge and think I'll miss the beach too much if we switch to an Epcot resort-and who knows if I could even get a reservation given the Food & Wine Fest. I just checked my dates on line and the Polynesian was one of the only ones that showed availability for my dates and they had any room-GV, LV, GVC or LVC. I'll let you know what they tell me....
