Anyone have problems with DSLRs and Disney Security?

There was a thread at the end of last year dealing with certain lenses being denied entry into Disneyland. (http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1966870) Interestingly enough, we visited DL Sept 22-24,2008 (a few days before the OP in the other thread) and I didn't receive a second glance and I had a Canon 70-300 IS lens in my bag.

Has anyone had any problems lately? We are visiting WDW in a few weeks and I plan on bringing the 70-300 again. Anyone think that I'll have any issues? I have a small bag that I carry - it only has room for my camera, an 18-55 lens and the 70-300 lens. I've carried it to WDW and DL, and never had any issues. I just don't want to get to the gate and have to turn around and take it back to the room.

You'll be fine. My understanding is that they had issues at DL with lenses longer than 8 inches or something like that.

I was at WDW with a full frame DSLR and several large lenses (17-40mm f/4, 24-105mm f/4, 24-70mm f/2.8, and 70-200mm f/2.8). Security never once said a thing to me.

I was at WDW back in 2007 without my wife and kids. I went to park fully loaded with camera gear. I wore a belt and harness system with all of my lenses attached in pods and I carried a tripod slung across my back. I was stopped a few times by security and asked if I was shooting professionally. Each time I explained that I was an amateur that just enjoyed WDW photography and they let me get on with my business.

I really don't think that you'll have any trouble at all. Just don't go nosing around near any backstage areas. When I asked them what they considered sensitive, that was the one thing that they mentioned.

I've not had any issue regarding any specific camera equipment, but I have had an issue with the bag checks going through each compartment of my bag. Some guards take a quick look while others feel the need to check each little compartment and case within my bag.

I understand the need for security, but every guard needs to be on the same page. My wife has gotten quite mad at me when I mention to the guard (jokingly) what about the gun and knife in my pocket? It is just some days they just get under my skin going through my perfectly packed camera bag. Then they get annoyed with me when I take my time to put everything back and hold up the line.

Then I get into the park and forget all about it.

That is hilarious... Kinda reminds me of the movie Meet the Parents where Ben Stiller says "Bomb" on the airplane and gets detained, searched, and violated :rotfl:...
