Tonight we had a long t-storm, which inspired this question. Does your pet have any strange fears? What's their safety spot/hiding spot?

Jessie, who is a lab mix and will be two in May, likes to run to the bedroom and hide her head under the covers. She is nervous about the ceiling fans when they are on---she avoids being in the middle of our livingroom when it is on. My dog growing up (Twilight) would run to the bathroom and hide in the tub during t-storms and hurricanes.

Hope to hear some good tales.

Our dog Jasper is scared of storms...as am I, my brother and my sister lol

The three of us, the dog, and the 5 cats all sleep in my parents' room during storms.

Simba hides in the basement or under the bed. Fireworks also scare him, as does one drop of water.:teeth:

Catsrule, my Grandma's cats never seem to notice storms except for the boy cats outside. Felix, a big grey striped kitty would cry constantly at the door to be let in the livingroom. Jessie gets even more nervous when hubby's not home during the storms---she did not want to be out of my sight when Hurricane Isabella went through last year. I feel bad for our neighbors' dogs who have to stay outside.

I have a golden who is 10 years old and has always been afraid of storms. Usually she starts shaking and her tail goes down. She always tries to find someone to comfort her, which is usually me, and I let her come on my bed and just pet her.

Butch hates anything that reminds him of floods, especially after 2 summers ago(mixed dog)

My dog is terified of any loud noises, if people are being loud he hides behind the couch. If it is Thunder or fireworks he'll climb up on the coucbetween me and my BF, scoot as close to me as he can, and bury his head under my throw.

I have an 8 yr old aussie who will get up and follow me around everywhere I go, she can't leave my side, she'll lean into me, it's kind of cute actually.

I had a St. Bernard that was petrified of everything. He lived on tranquilizers. His favorite hiding place was in the bathroom (no windows). During one thunderstorm, I ran out of tranqs and he actually passed out from fear. I felt so bad for him.

My cat ,Belle, goes crazy when I use a spray cleaner. It doesn't matter if it's aerosol or a trigger spray. As soon as she sees it, she goes nuts. She hisses and tries to swat anyone within her reach.

Like Michael says, Aaliyah is scared of AIR!

My baby girl kitty is a nervous nilly, everything scares her. I could understand loud noises or storms, I think all of my cats are not comfortable with them but Aaliyah is scared of EVERYTHING...except me, Michael and Max, our other cat who just BABIES her.

And ALL of them, including Michael, don't like the dreaded VACUUM CLEANER!!!!

Tundra, my Norwegian Elkhound (they have exceptionally good hearing) goes nuts during thunderstorms. She gets extremely agitated and barks nervously every time there's thunder.

The 4th of July is an automatic "lock the dog up" holiday. On two prior occasions when I didn't, she bolted through the electronic fence, took the collar shock, and was lost overnight until we could get her the next day.

My dog hates thunderstorms, fireworks and the vacuum too. Thunderstorms and the fireworks, she'll just go to the first available person to rub her belly.
With the vacuum, she alternates between barking at it and running from it. But is only when the beater brush is on it.

My dog hates thunder. She will start barking, pee on the rug, and then hide under the end table. I can take the barking and the hiding but I hate cleaning up the rug!

Years ago we inherited my MIL's Collie, Buster. When there was a storm he would jump on TOP of our kitchen table:confused: We laugh about it now but it wasn't so funny then!!

My cat, Misty, hates thunder. She usually hides under the loveseat. She's not very fond of the vacuum, either, but she seems to like to watch it, so she just runs part way up the stairs.

Tycho isn't scared of anything. Wedge, on the other hand, is scared of everything, especially other people. DH and I were married three months before Wedge would jump on the bed when he was there. :( Anyway, when people come over, Wedge hides behind my black filing cabinet. He likes black stuff, he thinks he's totally invisible when he's near them.

Amazingly enough, neither of them freaked out with the movers and boxes today. I guess after two moves they assume they're coming with us.

I had a Golden Retreiver that was terrified of T. storms. If he was outside, the first rumble and he was scratchin at the door wanting in. Of course he was babied once on the inside.

My poor Katie is terrified of thunderstorms. Poor baby will just pace back and forth. There was a period of time that we had to sedate her during thunderstorms. I always feel so guilty, when we are at work and a thunderstorm hits.
