How does it hold up? I want to sell my house and really need to rip up the carpet beforehand. I'm looking for something that 4 pugs cannot mess up in the meantime.

Does it scratch easily? Does it stain?

My SIL has this in her kitchen (don't remember the brand), but she has 2 labs and it still looks really good after 2 years. I'm not sure if it stains or not, but I haven't noticed any scratches on her floor.

I have pergo in my kitchen & entryway. VERY high traffic areas! I have 3 kids & a dog & it has held up amazingly well!! We've had it for about 6 or 7 years now & I would recommend it!

We have Pergo in the kitchen. My 90 pound dog doesn't scratch it, so I don't think anything will. It does not stain either. It is definitely in a high traffic area, and I would definitely get it again.

My parents have Pergo and it has taken every thing you can throw at it. We even did the stilletto type heel smack on the floor and it only made a scuff that was cleaned up with *water*.

Speaking of water, the only thing that HAS been able to affect their floor is my brother leaving a really wet swim suit under a towel in the back hall. It raised up the edge grain and was warped quite a bit. $200 later, it was fixed.

Pergo prides itself on its durability. You can abuse it terrribly and it will still look great. We had it in our last home and it was a big selling factor. Trust me, you will not regret it. People today have busy lives (including pets!) and Pergo flooring makes life a little easier! Good Luck:D

We put down Quickloc in spring of 02. It still looks like the day it came out of the carton. We have big, old, messy dog, two teen sons and 3 cats. Oh yeah, DH who slops his coffee grounds around.

I did follow their advice and put throw rugs at the entry ways, in front of my water dispensing fridge as I am always dropping cubes or splashing water, and in front of my sink for same reason. I think that helps a lot.

Ditto here!!
We put down Alloc (like Pergo). Our 90lb, indoor dog has been scraping and tap dancing across it for 3.5 years and I don't see any signs of damage. Our cats have also done their share of "business" outside the litter box and have not hurt it. Plus, someone we know has a cabinetry business and his whole showroom has Quicklock (I think). The building has flooded TWICE and he says he didn't have to repair any of the flooring!! So, go for it!!!
:smooth:

We have Pergo in the kitchen and enrance foyer, (but only 1 pug) we love it!:D Our Dodie was trained on it, so accidents did happen, but we use the cleaner that was recommended by the manufacter and it is great. Not a bad investment.

We have Prego in the bedrooms, hallways and family room. It's great and so easy to take care of. It was great when DD was potty training ;) However, it's much more expensive than carpeting. If you're just looking to replace the existing carpeting to sell the house it might not be the way to go. I'm not sure whether you'd recoup the cost in the sale of the house.

My folks put in Pergo a few years back and love it. It looks great, wears well, and puts up with all kinds of abuse (thank my sons for testing it for them). Be careful with the installation though. My folks did two rooms and hall and the guys who did the installation messed up the joints between the rooms which caused the floor to buckle when the weather got warm. They had to fight with the company to get it fixed, which took a lot of time and effort.

We had pergo in our old house, it was great wore well and took a beating!!! It is so easy to take care of. We actually just put it in our bathroom and it is so great. Now we are finishing gutting out the first floor of our place and we are putting the pergo in the living/dining room and kitchen. Hubby has become a pro at installing it!!!;)
I would definately reccomend it!

We have Mannington laminate in the entryway of our split level house. It has been in about a year now. It looks great and with a very active springer spaniel, a DD, and a DH not to mention MN weather it has held up very well.

One note, I do notice that it must be a little bit more slippery compared to our linoleum only because our dog seems to go flying when he is in a hurry. But I personally haven't noticed it.

We're hoping to get Pergo or similar for our living and dining rooms. I know there are different grades of Pergo-- does anyone know which grade they got?

We put laminate in our house and it has been great. It is very easy to keep clean and takes a beating. However, if you are selling the house, don't go for the expense of Pergo, there are lots of quality, less expensive brands out there.

We put laminate flooring down in our living room/dining room and our severely allergic/asthmatic son's bedroom. We looked at Pergo, but out of our price range. We then looked at Building Box, Home Depot etc, but it ended up cheaper, nicer and more selection (and better warranty) from Ikea. It is much easier to look after than carpet. My hubby watched the guy lay it and now says he could do it no problem. We have an over 100 lb black lab and there are no scratches on it at all. He runs and slides on it everyday with no mishaps yet. Go for it!
