Do you have a parent that smokes? Or do both smoke? Step-parents?
Do you ever get frustrated?

--------------------

I admit, I do get frustrated at times. My dad's the only parent who smokes, but it affects (effects?) the whole family.
I'm borderline asthmatic, partially due to secondhand smoke. Even though he only does it outside or in his room, still, everything wreaks.
We have been told time and time again he needs to stop for everyone's health. My oncologist told him repeatedly he needs to stop smoking, I know have an even greater chance of lung cancer. Yet he still smokes.
We've asked him several times to quit, and he's made efforts to quit, but never succeeded.
What really makes me angry is the fact he sees his child battling cancer, when he knows very well he will go thru the same thing one day.

Sorry, I just needed to vent. I understand it's his "get away from reality" thing, but when it harms others, especially your own flesh in blood, is it really worth it?

Thankfully none of my family ever smoked. My dad never did, my Mom doesn't and my older sister who is 22 has never smoked as far as I know.

Sometimes smoking can help them relax, and I'm sure your dad/family are all very stressed and worried about you and what has been happening. Smoking might be something that he has, that can just relax him.

Saying that, both my parents some. My mom does it outside though, sometimes in her room. When she does I stay away. I do go outside with her, to talk. I don't live with my dad, but when I use to visit him, I would hate when he smoked. He was definitely something. He would cook and smoke at the same time..:scared:

My mom has tried to quit, but it hasn't worked out.

My dad used to smoke, but he quit when my mom got pregnant with my oldest brother.

My dad smokes. I really wish he didn't, I hate it. I can never hug him because he stinks so bad, and I don't like him to touch my things. I can almost never chat with him because he's almost always outside smoking. I don't like to go for walks with him because he smokes. I really just wish he would stop, because I like being with him but I don't think I should have to smell his smoke to do so.

He smokes outside now, but when I was little he would stand by the door with it open and smoke. The door was near the kitchen table and I would whine whenever he lit up when I was eating, it made me sick. And he also used to smoke in the car with the window down. He doesn't do that any more because he realized that it wasn't normal and was mean, but I also realize that when he was growing up his dad smoked in the car with the windows UP, so he thought he was okay...

I see where you're coming from. If my dad smoked in his room I could see how the whole house would stink, because even though he only smokes outside he still manages to stink up the house from time to time.

My mom smokes.
I've asked her to quit a lot.
I had a emotional breakdown around Christmas time, and she told me she would stop.
She has't.

my dad smokes... we all tell him to stop because hes getting old and its very damaging to his body.... i know if he could, he would, but he just cant let it go... a lot of my friends smoke too, and theyre the same way...

but guys... please do understand... that they DO know that its killing them... they get told that day in and day out... and if it was just a matter of going cold turkey to quit, than they would do it... however, smoking is VERY addicting... Nicotine is just as addicting as heroin i believe.... their body goes through a physical breakdown (due to a lack of endorphins and other hormones) when they dont get nicotine, and it hurts a lot... and with everyday stress, added on to the stress of the bodie's hormonal breakdown, going without a smoke can be extremely painful... sooo please dont get mad at them or blame them because they cant quit.. theyre trying their best and they want to do it... but its an extrememly diffcult process

My dad and mom used to smoke.
My mom quit before she got pregnat with me.
My dad quit when my yougestest sister was born.
I think since my dad stoped smoking our family has become closer.

 I'm sorry, Sonya.

I'm super duper allergic to cigarette smoke, so thank GOODNESS my parent's don't smoke.

My mom does.

I hate it.
With a passion.
It's hard to go into a room she's in holding my breath or choking.
One time she was smoking in the car, forgot to open the windows and I swear I almost died. The other day she smoked alot, and when I went downstairs I felt lightheaded and ran up stairs into my room, the only place safe from smoke because I keep the door shut and have an air freshiner in there. I've told her she should consider quitting, because it isn't good for her health as well as mine, and she never listened, yelling at me saying she can do whatever she wants. It sickens me, one of my friends, consider having me "move in" with him because he understands my hatred of the stuff. Lately I've been taking another friends, advice, whenever she pulls out a cigarette, I leave the room. Fast. Even if my mom's in the middle of a sentence I leave. Also, all of my mom's friends and family have stopped quitting for everyone's health. They tell her she should stop, for her health and my & my sister's health, but she won't give in. Ugh, long rant, but it sickens me. :sad2:

My dad and his wife does.
I don't think he's ever gonna quit, but I've never said anything to him about it.
I'm allergic to cigarette smoke, so he makes sure he has a whole bunch of windows open if he smokes in the car.
But I still don't like it, and just that much only makes my eyes all itchy and red but still.
I don't see him but about once a month or less so...it's not enough to make me really sick.

My great grandpa died from lung cancer which he recieved from smoking.
And I know there are a couple other people in my family that smokes.

My grandpa does. He's the only one, thank goodness.

He goes outside to do it, and only after meals, I think.

My dad used to smoke, but not when I've been alive. I think he smoked pipes. My grandpa used to smoke, and it is what did him in. Two of my uncles used to smoke but quit.

I think smoking in a closed space around your child is one of the most selfish things you can do.

I agree.

None of my family smokes. Anymore. My granddad did. But he recently passed away because of it. Here's the story.

He went to the doctor for a check up. The doctor told him he needed to go to the lung doctor, so then he went there. They ended up finding cancer in his lung caused only from smoking. He passed away about 2 weeks after that. It was very sudden and very hard on us all.

Sorry for a story but it could happen.

Thank God no one in my house smokes.

My aunt used to, and my uncle got her to quit when they met.
My like, great uncle does but I rarely see him.
And a close family friend of our's drank and smoked and that killed her.

I hate smoking. I hate when people are ignorant and don't listen when it says "designated smoking area" and they just smoke where ever the hell they want and then throw the cigarettes just anywhere on the ground. It annoys the crap out of me.

My mom does

it makes me so mad
i tell her to quit all the time

she say she will but does she? no!

Lyss, I hate smoking so bad. It is just disgusting and smells so bad. People that don't abide by the designated smoking signs are just rude and throwing their butts all over the place is disgusting. What I really hate and it drives my mom nuts is when we are driving down the road and someone flicks there cigarette out there window.

Yes,i'm so glad that none of my family have ever and never smoked.
i would probably move if my family smoked even that i'm 13.
I have bad athsma problems but since i lost my cat- R.I.P. Mittens-i have never had a problem since cause of all the dandruff.
When people smoke it makes me very unhappy and i loose some of my shall i say air.
It smells gross.I don't know how people make it possible to smoke.
And the fact of your lungs being black just makes me cringe.:/
I'm just thankfull.
I will NEVER smokee.
