Anyone have Kids who are DVC members?

My son (18) likes Disney as much as we do decided to join us at SSR as an owner. Anyone else have children who have followed in your footsteps?

Yes, my DD and my neice were both members for several years. Both married, and then divorced, and the points went bye-bye, as they had to be sold as part of community property. Your son should make sure that when he marries he has a pre-nup to protect the points, otherwise they automatically become community property.

Don't have kids, but I applaud your 18 year old for having the foresight to pre-pay his vacations and having the financial ability to do so at the age of 18!!!! :thewave:

DD joined 6 months after I joined. We love doing disney together and the mickeyitis is infecting the rest the family. I have a feeling DS and Dniece will be joining soon. Susan

We did it the opposite way. My sister and I both bought points last year then our parents bought this year.

My son bought at BWV four years ago - he proposed to his now-wife in front of Cinderella's Castle and joined DVC during the same trip. I have to admit, I wasn't too sure about that kind of purchase for someone just starting out BUT they used their BWV points to trade to the Mauna Lani in Hawaii for 12 days for their honeymoon. So I guess he knew what he was doing after all! My husband and I own now own SSR (due in no small part to how much my son and daughter-in-law enjoy their DVC). We love it and are looking forward to taking the grandbabies with us to share the Disney magic!

We're the kids!!! My wonderful MIL and FIL got us hooked on Disney when they brought my then boyfriend (DH) and I on a great WDW trip during college. It wasn't too many years later that they bought DVC as original owners of OKW..back in the days when we got park passes with our stay! Anyway, since that first amazing trip with them over 15 years ago, my DH and I have visited WDW almost every year. This past year we bought resale at BWV since we were always either paying premium for Disney resorts or crashing in on my in-laws at OKW . It was time for us to admit to our Disney Addiction....apparently a family thing! LOL! So here we are, following in Mom and Dad's footsteps!

BTW...how great are my inlaws!? Truly the best!

I'm hoping all my children (4) buy a DVC membership, then we can have family reunions there! I really wish I had bought years ago....I've spent a small fortune staying both offsite and onsite. To everyone on the fence, I'm glad I finally made the plunge.
